We look forward to participating in our Annual Blessings in a Backpack, Liverpool Chapter #1854, Fill-A-Bus event coming up on Saturday, September 12, 10:00am-4:30pm, at the Clay Walmart on Rt. 31. Volunteers from First Pres. will be participating, along with our Chapter friends from St.Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church Liverpool, and Liverpool First United Methodist Church . Our Liverpool Chapter provides a bag of weekend meals to upwards of 300 elementary students in the Liverpool Central School District. See the Flyer photo for more information about the event and specific foods. We hope you will join us in supporting our LCSD children, by shopping from the list at Walmart, or dropping off donations from the list on the day of the event!

Soon our Liverpool elementary school students will return to their classrooms, and soon, our Liverpool First Pres. Blessings in a Backpack team will be packing weekend bags of food to be distributed to our students. We all know the old adage - “many hands make light work.” At Liverpool First Pres, we have demonstrated this over and over again! On Friday our BiB team, along with members of our Mission and Social Justice Committee packed up the donations we have received over the Summer - 1,892 individual items! We have also received $2,470 in monetary donations. Our Blessing in a Backpack Summer Challenge continues through Sunday, September 13 and we are grateful to all who have donated and will donate. It takes a village! Neighbors helping neighbors!

“It takes a village to raise a child. Let’s be that village!” As of this morning, we have raised $2,370 and collected 1,657 individual food items for our Blessings in a Backpack Summer Challenge to support 300 students in Liverpool Central School District elementary schools. Our Summer Challenge continues through Sunday, September 13. Our Blessings in a Backpack, Liverpool, NY Chapter #1854.

Foods needed to feed children over the weekend include:
-ready-to-serve soups with easy open lids
-macaroni and cheese in microwaveable cups
-Chef Boyardee, all varieties
-fruit and grain bars bars, NO NUTS
-applesauce cups
-fruit cups
-oatmeal packets
-pudding cups
-tuna lunch to go packs

Thank you Deacons for hosting, to Grill Master Brett, Fry Master Timmy B., and to all who attended our church picnic this afternoon at Clay Park! Great eats, great fellowship and friendship, and with a 100% chance of rain in the forecast, fantastic weather!
