Fear is loud in our world.
But as followers of Christ, we are called to carry something stronger.

Carry hope when others are discouraged.
Carry compassion when others are hurting.
Carry courage when justice is needed.
Carry the love of Christ into places longing for healing, dignity, and peace.

This is the work of faith lived out in the world.

Joy is not simply a feeling. It is a way of living that flows from knowing we belong to God.

As we gather for worship today, may our gratitude overflow into acts of kindness, compassion, and service. May we carry the joy we experience in worship into the world God loves.

As another week comes to a close, it can be easy to wonder whether the small things we do really matter.

But God often works through simple acts of faithfulness: a word of encouragement, a helping hand, a meal shared, a prayer offered.

We may never know how far those acts travel. What seems ordinary today may become a blessing that reaches far beyond what we can see.

As you head into the weekend, remember that every act of kindness helps build a more compassionate world and reflects Christ's love in ways both visible and invisible.

"So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all." (Galatians 6:10)

May your weekend be filled with opportunities to share grace, hope, and love.

Congratulations Pastor Tina.

🎉 Please join us in welcoming Pastor Tina Toburen as the Virginia Synod's new Director for Youth and Young Adult Ministry!

We give thanks for Pastor Tina's gifts, experience, and passion for walking alongside youth and young adults in faith. We are excited for the ways God will work through her leadership to strengthen connections among young people, congregations, and ministry leaders across the Virginia Synod.

Pastor Tina will begin serving in this new role on August 1, 2026.

Please keep Pastor Tina, her family, and the ministry of her current congregation, Trinity Lutheran Church in Newport News, in your prayers during this time of transition. We look forward to this new chapter of ministry and the opportunities ahead! 💙💛💚❤️

On June 7th we were able to be outside for our 8am service. When the weather is above 60 degrees and it’s not raining we’ll be outside for the first service through the end of September.

Howard Thurman once wrote:

"The bitter truth is that the Church has permitted the various hate-inspired groups in our common life to establish squatter's rights in the minds of believers because there has been no adequate teaching of the meaning of the faith in terms of human dignity and human worth."

As followers of Christ, we are called to see the image of God in every person. Faith is not only what we believe, but how we treat our neighbors, especially those who are marginalized, excluded, or harmed.

May we continue the work of building communities rooted in dignity, compassion, justice, and love.

Thank you for walking with us through both busy days and quiet moments.

Give us courage to serve, wisdom to listen, and grace to welcome others as beloved children of God.

May we be signs of hope, justice, and compassion wherever this day leads.
