This is my attempt to fix the monetary cost of dying other than the funeral process.
Please let me know what I might be able to add to this petition for our death rites.
This focuses on the practical aspects of dying, beyond just private burial grounds.
Free death certificates—because if the county can’t afford copy paper, they don’t need to be in charge of death certificates.
2. $1000 tax credit for having a green burial membership and completing a Last Will, a Trust and directives, saving average families $3,000 – $10,000 in probate fees.
3. $10,000 in FEMA Cash for every man, woman, or child—not for funerals, for failures by the FDA, CDC, WHO.
4. We propose a free national (or international) obituary database, because we deserve to know what happened to our people and people cant always afford the obituary.
5. We want reform in burial witnessing in 9 states that require a professional funeral witness, those states can provide their own witness. Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, and New York.
6. Donated federal land for truly nonprofit cemeteries. Many cemeteries listed as nonprofit are priced higher than most can afford.
7. Free private autopsies—we already pay for them with our taxes. The charge of $500 state vs $5000 citizens seems like profiteering.
8. No more Mandatory Embalming Education / Certification for Green Funeral Directors.
9. Nationwide right for families to direct their own funerals, home burials, body transport, and final disposition without requiring a licensed funeral director—because caring for our dead is a sacred family responsibility, not a government-protected monopoly that forces thousands in unnecessary professional fees.
