We are called to follow Jesus in the same way. Whether our crosses are visible or hidden, we do not carry them alone. Christ walks with us.

God is in the details - always. And here's an incredible detail that often gets misinterpreted. Throughout the centuries, Christians have often taken the idea that "the gates of hell shall not prevail" against the Church as a defensive metaphor. This means that the Church will be assaulted but remain standing.
⁣
But the "gates of hell" themselves are defensive structures. Our Lord is noting that his Church, rather than standing still and being battered by sin, is meant to "go on the offensive" against evil. This is most clearly shown in the Acts of the Apostles, when the disciples go out with great joy and energy to proclaim the Good News. We're asked to do the same at Light of the World!
