5th Sunday of the Month - a Sunday we encourage designations of gifts to the Deacon's Fund. These gifts support the mission of the church as we care for members of FPCL, members of the community, and build community together.
Consider marking a gift to the Deacon's Fund alongside your gift to the over-arching ministry of Christ through FPCL.

We worship God together at 10a.m. --- come join us!

The world often defines power as control, influence, or getting your own way.
Pentecost introduces a different kind of power.

Not power over people.
Power for people.
Power for compassion.
Power for justice.
Power for healing.
Power for welcome.
Power for new life.

As followers of Jesus, we are called to become people who use what we have to help others flourish.

Question: If you could use one gift or strength you have to bless someone this week, what would it be?

Before Pentecost the disciples were fearful and uncertain.
After Pentecost they found courage they did not know they had.

Courage does not always look dramatic.
Sometimes courage looks like inviting someone to coffee, checking on a neighbor, standing beside someone who feels unseen, or speaking up for justice.

The Spirit still empowers ordinary people to do courageous things.

Question: What small act of courage might God be placing in front of you today?

The disciples received the Spirit and immediately moved beyond the room where they had gathered.
Church was never intended to stop at the walls of a building.

New Power sends us into neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and communities to become people of hope, mercy, and justice.

Followers of Jesus do not simply ask, "Who will come to us?" We also ask, "Where is God sending us?"

Where do you see a need in your community that people of faith could help address?

At Pentecost, people from many places heard the good news in their own language.
The Spirit did not erase differences; the Spirit created understanding.

Followers of Jesus are called to speak words that build bridges instead of walls, compassion instead of division, and welcome instead of exclusion.

What if sharing faith begins not with talking more, but with listening better?

Who in your life might need to feel heard this week?

The disciples gathered behind closed doors waiting and wondering what came next. Then Pentecost happened: rushing wind, tongues of fire, voices raised.
The Holy Spirit did not arrive to make the disciples comfortable. The Spirit arrived to move them.

Many of us wait for perfect conditions before taking a step of faith.
But Pentecost reminds us that God's Spirit often meets us in uncertainty and then calls us forward.
New Power is not simply something we receive. It becomes something we live.

Question: Where in your life do you sense God inviting you to take a next faithful step?

Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the US military. Originally called Decoration Day, its origins trace to the aftermath of the Civil War.

In 1865, in Charleston, freed black men and women, gathered to honor those who had fought and died. They took time to bury soldiers properly and place flowers on graves. Three years later, on May 30, 1868, the first national commemoration was held at Arlington National Cemetery.
