So many stories in God’s Word illustrate the process but none better than the woman who had an issue of blood for 12 years. Every doctor has told her there is no help for her, condemned to her home because of the embarrassment of her bleeding. She is alone, hurting, dying, hopeless, in despair, depressed and scared. she hears that the great healer, Jesus, is passing through her town and she tells
herself “if I could just touch the hem of his garment I will be healed.”
The crowd is large, brash, pushy, and selfish. They all are careless to the needs of others; but each is focused and determined to get close to Jesus. Despite multitudes of people making some sort of contact with Jesus, He only takes notice when this woman touches him. The moment she touches Him, He asks, “Who touched me?” He knew because she was desperate, and she separated herself from the crowd by faith. Her faith pushed her to touch Jesus when He was passing by. Her single touch of Jesus healed her of a lifetime of pain, sickness, disease, emotional turmoil. Whe she touche Him, power went from Jesus right into her. She was IMMEDIATELY healed, changed and made new. She received an infusion of healing from Jesus. She got infused with His love toward her and his power to see her healed and whole. This one story became our motivation for our church. We know that crowds will come on a weekly basis, but we want to give that “one” the opportunity to touch Jesus every time we gather. There are other similar stories in the Word of God with the same results. The demonic who was naked, chained, isolated in a cave outside the city gates met Jesuse; and when He did, in one moment, he was set free and in his right mind. He ran back to his hometown and told everybody what Jesus had done. There was a woman at the well who met Jesus, and He had first-hand knowledge of her past. When He told her about her past, she received Jesus’ love. She also ran back into the town and told everyone how Jesus touched her life. Should it be any different today? We need to help lead people to Jesus so they can be infused with His love, power, presence, joy and mercy. Once infused with Jesus, all past hurt, past pain, past emptiness, past misery is gone. When you have been infused with heaven itself! You are dead to your past and made new by Jesus. You now live with purpose, hope, love, joy, and it become only natural to want to infuse your world, your friends and your relationships, with Jesus.
