Happy Tuesday, ladies! I hope you enjoyed the long weekend!
This was shared by a woman on another group I'm a part of, and I just love it so much.
How to sustain your fire for the Lord
Start with the embers of a pure heart. It all comes back to our hearts. What are your intentions? At our core, we are worshippers, servants, and children. That means our hearts should be humble, our every action meant to glorify God, and our identity built in grace and love, knowing we can do nothing and have nothing without Him
From there, build your fire as you would build any fire. Add kindling and twigs before you add wood. So many want to go from 0 to 60, to go from a match to a forest fire. But if we want a fire that sustains itself, we have to build it up gradually. We need character before passion so our passion doesn’t get out of control and hurt people. We need disciplines before events so that we depend on God, not fun events. We need private intimacy before public works so that everything we do in public isn’t just a performance. Because of His love for us, God is a God of order. Like any good Father, sometimes He keeps us from things for our own safety and well-being. If we were to go right from a spark to wildfire, God would still help us from there, but it would be a more difficult and painful process
With that, comes the final important note I want to include. We need to trust God and be obedient. When you add wood to fire, you have to be careful. It can’t be too wet or it won’t sustain the fire. In other words, if we try to take the next step too quickly because we are impatient or don’t trust Gods timing, it will result in unnecessary complications. On the flip side, if we don’t take the next step at all, because we are fearful or don’t trust Gods plan, we will miss out or delay the blessings God wants to give us
At the end of the day, we sustain our fire by seeking God. Before we can be obedient, we need to be close to God daily so we recognize His voice and presence and can tell how He is asking us to be obedient. He is the oxygen to our fire, necessary at all times. He is our sustenance. He is always enough. When we come to Him, He will give us all we need
