Dear Parishioners,

We have to make the unfortunate decision to cancel the planned Corpus Christi Eucharistic procession on Main Street that was scheduled for this Sunday, June 7th. The weather forecast shows rain all morning and into the afternoon. We will have a short procession with the Blessed Sacrament in the Church building following the 10:30am Mass, with a short period of Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament. An ice cream social will still follow in the parish hall!

One of the purposes of a Eucharistic procession is to bring our Lord into our community through His real, true, and substantial presence in the Eucharist. While it is very disappointing to have to cancel the outdoor procession, it impels us even more to bring Christ into the world through our own living of the Christian life. By being the salt of the earth and the light of the world, we make Christ known to all those we encounter.

I look forward to seeing you all at Holy Mass this coming weekend. A blessed feast of Corpus Christi to everyone!

The Holy Father has asked all Catholics to join him in praying the Holy Rosary for peace today at 1:00pm (EST). He will lead this worldwide Rosary from the Vatican gardens. If you cannot pray the Rosary at this time, please consider praying this prayer at some point today for peace in our world and for an end to war.

Our parish is blessed to host the traveling icon of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. This painting is a replica of the image painted in 1767 by Pompeo Batoni, and which is displayed in the Church of the Gesù in Rome.
The traveling icon will be displayed and available for public veneration and prayer from Friday, May 29th until Sunday, June 7th at St. Rose of Lima Church. We will pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus after each Mass while the icon is with us.

Congratulations to the 7 young people from our parish, and the 2 from Holy Family Parish in Gorham, who received the Sacrament of Confirmation and their first Holy Communion on Friday, May 8th at St. Rose of Lima Church.

We are grateful to Bishop Libasci for being with us to confer these sacraments. Please keep them and their families in your prayers!
