“Pain Is God’s Megaphone”
There’s something about the bottom falling out
that causes us to turn our minds toward God.
When the doctor says it’s cancer.
When you get the pink slip at work.
It forces you to your knees and say —
Father, I stretch my hand to thee.
Kierkegaard said pain is God’s megaphone.
When God can’t get your attention with your blessed self —
your prosperous self — your affluent self —
God knows how to get your attention.
And He doesn’t have to take His whole hand off you.
All He’s gotta do is move His little finger.
God allows what we go through —
not to make us happy,
but to make us holy. 🙏

On this day in 1865, the news of freedom finally reached the last of the enslaved. We at Saint Mark Baptist Church remember that what God ordains, no man can withhold forever. Today we celebrate, we reflect, and we give thanks. Happy Juneteenth, family.

“It’s Not Their Promise”

You can’t expect everyone to be as invested
in what God gave you as you are. 👀

In 2 Kings 4, when the son got sick, the husband wasn’t concerned — because it wasn’t his promise. It was hers.

You’re wondering why they don’t care about your car, your house, your relationship. Your happiness bothers them. You’re wondering why they won’t protect what God gave you. God didn’t give it to them. He gave it to you.

Stop getting offended.
Stop casting your pearls before swine.

When God blesses you —
He blesses it with your name on it.
It’s your responsibility to protect it.

High five somebody and tell them —
it’s mine. It’s mine. It’s mine. 🙌
