Silence Across Faiths

This time of year, as the days shorten, we often seem inclined toward silence and contemplation. Join The Interfaith Center and Arkansas House of Prayer for a panel discussion with the Hon. Annabelle Imber Tuck (Congregation B'nai Israel), Marcus Lowe (Madina Institute), The Rev. Susan Sims Smith (Episcopal Diocese of Arkansas), and Mike Mueller (Ecumenical Buddhist Society) on the importance of silence and meditation across faith traditions, then spend time in quiet contemplation together in the Arkansas House of Prayer.

Weeks before he died, Pope Francis wrote a letter to the Catholic Bishops of America about mass deportations taking place here. Recalling that Jesus was a refugee he said, "The Son of god, in becoming man, also chose to live the drama of immigration." And then he went on to say, "I exhort all the faithful of the Catholic Church, and all men and women of good will, not to give in to narratives that discriminate against and cause unnecessary suffering to our migrant and refugee brothers and sisters." His inspiring letter is very much worth reading.
