Howard Lewis II March 1996 with the unwavering support of his wife Lady Joyce Lewis. Pastor Lewis, Lady Lewis, and congregants purchased furniture and musical instruments, as well as building supplies to create an elevated pulpit area and choir stand. The first Sunday worship service was held March 24, 1996 at 5305 Mabelvale Pike at 11AM. Offering for that day was one hundred dollars. May 12, 1996
the church elected Rev. May 14, 1996 the church was incorporated under the name of Solid Rock Baptist Church, because we knew that we were standing on Christ, the Solid Rock! As the body of Christ witnessed God’s provision, more furniture, instruments and audio systems were purchased. Within the first two months ushers/greeters ministry and choir ministry were formed. God blessed us with an anointed drummer Rev. Khristopher Dennis. Solid Rock has experienced spiritual, numerical, and financial growth and has witnessed lifestyle changes resulting in spiritual maturity in her congregants as a result of the preaching, teaching, evangelism and discipleship under the leadership of Pastor Lewis. We have been blessed with associate ministers, deacons, and faithful members who give leadership to and work diligently to show the love of Jesus Christ through our various ministries: Mission, Evangelism, Prison & Juvenile Detention, Nursing Home, Homeless Shelter, Youth Ministry, Media ministry, Clothing ministry, and Women’s Ministry led by Lady Joyce Lewis for the purpose of teaching women to be Godly in their lifestyle and how to add value to their family, church, and community. We have witnessed astronomical growth in the number of people served through the Solid Rock Food Pantry, which has distributed more than 140,000 pounds of food to those in the cities of Little Rock, North Little Rock, Bryant, Sherwood, and Benton. March 2020 the world experienced unprecedented times because of the pandemic. We pray for the families of those who succumbed to sickness and we thank God for those who won the battle against sickness. During this time Solid Rock church continued to do ministry and by God’s grace have experienced growth in membership and E-membership with members in various U.S. We have also expanded our food pantry and have been blessed to experience what God can do when we submit to His will and when we are led by the Holy Spirit to win souls to Jesus Christ by evangelizing the sinner and discipling those who are new to the body of Christ (Matthew 28: 19-20). When God’s hand is on a ministry nothing can stop it!! In the future we will continue to do God’s work, God’s way and we will glorify Him! God is with us, and if God is with us who can stop us?! On Christ the Solid Rock we stand!!!
