Blessed Are You Who Bear the Light
Blessed are you
who bear the light
in unbearable times,
who testify
to its endurance
amid the unendurable,
who bear witness
to its persistence
when everything seems
in shadow
and grief.
Blessed are you
in whom
the light lives,
in whom
the brightness blazes—
your heart
a chapel,
an altar where
in the deepest night
can be seen
the fire that
shines forth in you
in unaccountable faith,
in stubborn hope,
in love that illumines
every broken thing
it finds.
—Jan Richardson

Like a seed waiting in the ground, we wait for who we can become. The darkness that surrounds us can be an ointment for our restless spirit. If we do not turn away from this darkness, it has the potential to become a nurturing womb for us. Often it is the dark times in our lives that our eyes are opened, and we see things in new ways.

Praying today at the beautiful site of our upcoming silent retreat: Reservoir of our Life.🍂

Registration for this Nov 2 guided group experience closes this weekend. We have a couple of spots left!

We invite you to come grow in awareness of how our interior lives can indeed flow into and become our exterior lives.

We will rest, reflect, and ponder with God in silence using scripture, the pond, the labyrinth, expressive arts, and our own experience.

Shifts are happening in our ministry as we desire to steward our time and energy well. We have made the decision to no longer host individual cottage retreats. We are grateful for the hundreds of pilgrims who have retreated in our cottage over the past four years and for the rest and nourishment God continues to provide.

We are opening the doors of the cottage wide to facilitate guided group retreats in the Central Arkansas area.

We continue to offer 1:1 spiritual direction. Tongua is currently training in supervision through a nine month cohort with Together in the Mystery, and we will be offering supervision for spiritual directors beginning in June 2025.

We invite you to check out our updated website, including our new resources page and retreat offerings. Scroll down to the bottom of the retreat page to see our upcoming guided group retreats. We hope to see you soon!

Let us provide a sacred space for your soul to breathe.

During a recent silent retreat, I experienced deep moments of restful contemplative prayer by a lake, communing with God. The gentle waves reassured me, reflecting the steady co-regulation of God's heartbeat, grounding me in presence, love, and peace. Captivated by the sun's shimmering reflection on...

“I have come to define prayer as listening to that voice — to the one who calls you the Beloved. The discipline of prayer is to constantly go back to the truth of who we are and claim it for ourselves. My life is rooted in my spiritual identity. We must go back to our first love, back regularly to that place of core identity. “

Reflection is an important part of soul care. An examen prayer can help us gently discover holy slivers of love and light as we reflect on our day. Read more on our blog.

Reflecting on our day with God is like lectio divina with our daily life as the sacred text.
