A Message to the Mt. Tabor Family
from Pastor Cathy Fanslau

Dear Mt. Tabor Family,

As I prepare to leave you, I’ve found myself thinking about life as a tapestry. A tapestry is made out of many threads. Threads can be long, short, thick, thin, bright or subtle. Each thread becomes part of something larger than itself - a story that could not have been woven in quite the same way without it.

Over these last six months you have added many threads to my tapestry. When I arrived, I knew that I would be serving as an interim pastor. I knew there would be a beginning and that
eventually there would be an ending. But knowing something is temporary doesn’t make it any less valuable and/or meaningful. In fact, sometimes the seasons we know will be temporary, often are the ones we treasure most deeply.

You have allowed me to walk alongside you through worship & prayer, laughter & sorrow, questions & uncertainty, sickness & death, and in ordinary & sacred moments. We’ve celebrated
the lives of loved ones now in God’s keeping. We’ve baptized young lives. We’ve celebrated new members and the Confirmation of a young lady. You have shared your joys and your sorrows
with me and welcomed me into your lives, trusting me with your children and treasured shut-ins, during a season of transition. For all of that, I am so grateful.

I will carry pieces of this congregation with me: your faces, your voices, prayers, conversations, hopes, dreams, joys, struggles, and countless small moments that may have seemed ordinary at
the time, but were anything but ordinary.

I think that’s what it means to be woven together in Christ. We don’t always know how threads will be added and what our tapestry will look like. We simply trust that God is at work, taking
our individual lives and somehow making something beautiful out of all those threads. WOW - how blessed we are, because God’s love is what holds it all together.

You are now woven into the tapestry of my life and ministry. My prayer is that you will continue to trust God’s promises, cherish one another, and remain open to the new things God will weave
into your lives and collective ministry here at Mt Tabor Lutheran Church and in Little Mountain. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the history and story of Mt Tabor.

The Lord Bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you Peace.
