The Orthodox Christian Church is the ancient Church, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who Himself is the chief Cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20), and enlivened by the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. Regular services:

Wishing everyone a blessed Feast of the Dormition of Our Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary!

Thank you to everyone who helped decorate for this most special feast. May the flowers, herbs, and spices that we bless on this day remind us of the many gifts and blessings that God bestows upon us.

Just as the world is adorned with beautiful flowers, so too is our faith adorned by the deeds, virtues, and fruits of the labors of the Theotokos and the saints.

As the one who bore our Savior into the world, may we always remember to turn to the Theotokos for her guidance, wisdom, and intercessions as we strive to deepen our understanding of God and grow closer to Him.

May the Theotokos intercede for us and guide us always. Blessed Feast of the Dormition! ☦️🌿🌸

On the Feast of the Transfiguration, we remember the moment Christ revealed His divine glory upon Mount Tabor. ✨

“His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became white as light.” — Matthew 17:2

On this day we bless fruits as a sign of thanksgiving for God’s creation and the fruits of the earth. 🍇🍎

May we carry the light of Christ with us and allow His glory to transform our hearts. ☦️

The Orthodox Church has always remained faithful to Christ’s command: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” — Matthew 22:37

Our faith engages the whole person—body, soul, mind, and senses. We see and touch icons, smell incense, hear sacred hymns, behold the beauty of vestments, and taste Christ in Holy Communion. These are not merely traditions or decorations; they reflect the ancient faith given to us by Christ our God.

St. Irenaeus speaks of salvation of “the whole nature of humans, consisting of body and soul in close union.” St. John of Damascus reminds us that “words edify the ear” while the image “stimulates the eye.” St. Basil the Great teaches that sacred hymns form and train the soul.

Our Orthodox faith is ancient, beautiful, and embraces the whole human person. Let us rejoice in and cherish the traditions we have received! ☦️

Have you ever met truly amazing people? Here’s your chance to see a whole group of them!

Last Friday and Saturday, these incredible volunteers generously gave their time and energy to make handmade pierogi for our upcoming Annual St. John’s Picnic. We are so grateful for their hard work, fellowship, and love for our parish.

Want to be part of it? We’ll be making more pierogi the weekend of September 12. Come lend a hand, support the church, and enjoy the company of wonderful people.

Love Your Elders! ❤️

Every parish has senior members who may not keep up with the latest technology, but they have something far more valuable: life experience.

Their wisdom, stories, and lessons are freely offered to anyone willing to listen. Sometimes, a conversation with an older parishioner during coffee hour can be more valuable than hours spent scrolling through social media.

Honoring our elders is also an extension of honoring our parents, as God commands us.

So next Sunday, find an older parishioner, sit down, and talk with them. You never know what you might learn—and how much better you may be for it!

Love your elders. Listen to them. Learn from them.

Yesterday, the Northern New Jersey Inter-Parish Association (IPA) held its first annual picnic, bringing together clergy and faithful from Orthodox parishes across various jurisdictions for an afternoon of prayer, fellowship, celebration, and fun. Our parish was delighted to host this wonderful gathering at our picnic grounds.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and, especially, to all those who helped organize and make this wonderful event possible. We had over 100 attendees, with 13 parishes and 6 jurisdictions represented. A special shout-out to our many volunteers who brought food and drinks, helped with setup, and contributed in so many ways.

It was truly a joy to see so many Orthodox brothers and sisters from different parishes come together, get to know one another, make new friends, and share in the love of our Orthodox Christian faith. We look forward to many more gatherings like this in the years to come!
