SPIRIT AS PURE GOLD

John 3:1-17
Nicodemus said to [Jesus], “How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be astonished that I said to you, ‘you must be born from above.’ The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
In this passage, Jesus is speaking of being born of the Spirit. The Spirit in question is the Holy Spirit. In order to be reborn, we must allow the Holy Spirit to enter our hearts. Archetypally water is often associated with spirit and the Holy Spirit is often represented by fire. So we’re talking about being shaped by these two elemental forces fire and water. In much the way that gold goes through the refinery, where through immense heat it blows apart at a molecular level, drops its impurities, and comes back together in the form that we associate with purified gold; so do many of us experience going through the refinery of life, where we too, are sort of blown apart by things, and it is only in the regrouping; the rise from hitting bottom; that really brings us together in accord with our truest Self. That core Self that I’m speaking of is literally the Self that God created of spirit. It is our endowment from the Holy Spirit. Water is itself a purifier in that is the universal solvent. It also speaks of rubbing off our sharp edges, and honing us down, once again, to be refined as our core Self. When we come back in alignment with our true being it is as if we have found home again. This is why most archetypal hero journeys’ end result is the hero returning home changed from the journey. Not simply different, but galvanized. One thing I can tell you is that as you grow spiritually, others will see you as having changed dramatically but it will not necessarily feel like that to you from the inside. From the inside, it will appear more to you as if you have grown closer and closer to being your true self, for that is in fact, what you have actually done. GO LOVE.

LOVE AND FORGIVENESS ARE ONE IN TRUTH By Jeff Mandon

John 15:9-17
[Jesus said,] “as the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I’ve kept my Father’s commandments and abide in His love. I said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.”

We have a misconception that we can either be of service to God or be happy. That somehow serving God (which includes the Trinity as a whole) is a life of sacrifice; missing out on the joy and pleasure of things. Nothing could be further from the truth. Here Jesus asks us to obey his commandment. His only commandment was that we love one another as he loved us. So how are you doing with that? Because only to the extent that we are able to love one another can we be truly happy in our hearts. Most of us know by a certain age that merely acquiring things, earthly things, satisfies us for only a moment; brings us joy for a short time. That lasting joy comes from only that which itself lasts, and that is Love. Love is the only thing that is eternal. That is why God and the Christ mind and the Holy Spirit and our very souls are all eternal, for they are all created of perfect Love. The key to loving one another is quite simple. It is not easy, but it is simple – and that is forgiveness. Most of us are very begrudging with our forgiveness, as if we are somehow being magnanimous if we forgive someone. As if we are letting them off the hook somehow. Well, “vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord,” means it’s really not your job to police the universe. What is your job is to unify and sanctify the universe and both are done through forgiveness. Forgiveness is nothing more than the recognition that this terrible wrong we think is so important has not in fact really occurred on the ultimate level of Reality. Is it real enough? Yes, but only on the mortal coil. To forgive someone actually doesn’t let them off the hook, it lets us off the hook. Forgiveness is not the same as condoning the behavior which you are forgiving either. No one is asking that of you. To give and receive are one in truth. In forgiving another we ourselves are forgiven in truth. We are released from our investment in the battle, which is the only means to inner peace. When we withhold our forgiveness, we are actually in attack; and there is no peace for the wary; for when you engage in attack, you yourself are rife with attack inside your own toxic mind. So forgive; as many times, as many people as you possibly can, so that you might find the salvation God and the Christ are offering. In short, Go love.
