We closed out a wonderful five days of Snowball Mountain Challenge VBS with a family picnic, a surprise hayride, and great entertainment from the kids. In the finale, they use flashlights to sing “This Little Light of Mine, I’m Going to Let It Shine.”

The fourth evening of our Snowball Mountain Challenge VBS is underway. Here are a few photos. We’ll have more later from all four days. Tomorrow starting at 5:30 will be our family picnic with entertainment by the children. We provide hot dogs and drinks. Just bring lawn chairs and a side dish or dessert.

Today, St. Luke's UCC in Lititz celebrated the 17th anniversary of Lunch with Luke, their free weekly community meal, serving 81 people a hot meal, with birthday cake for dessert.

VBS is right around the corner! Come to Snowball Mountain Challenge from Sunday, June 14th 'til Thursday, June 18th, from 6:30 'til 8:30 every evening (except Thursday we start at 5:30 for entertainment by the kids and a meal.) Thursday night, bring a side dish or dessert, plus a lawn chair. Don't worry, if it rains, we'll be inside.

Register online at stlukeslititz/mycokesburyvbs.com, or come early at 6:00 on Sunday, or call the church office Thursday before 2:00.

James D. "Jim" Brewer

It is with profound sadness that we must announce that James D. “Jim” Brewer left his family and friends to go to his eternal home on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer and with his wife at his side.

He was born in Memphis, Tennessee and at age 12 moved to Lititz. Jim was a graduate of Warwick High School, class of 1965. He then proudly served in the US Navy from 1965-1969 as a jet mechanic during the Vietnam Era. He was stationed aboard the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier. Jim was a survivor of the USS Forrestal fire disaster in 1967.

Jim enjoyed genealogy and was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He also enjoyed Civil War history and visiting historic battle fields.

Jim was an active member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Lititz, PA. He served in numerous positions within the church. He and his wife Elaine were the second couple married in the new church… way back in July of 1968.

Jim was the loving husband and best friend of Elaine Y. (Sipe) Brewer for 57 years; proud father to Kristi R. (Brewer) Napoleonis and grandfather to Ari M. Napoleonis; and brother of Ray Brewer of Mobile, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one1 sister, and his son-in-law.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 222 N. Broad St, Lititz, PA 17543. The family will receive guests from 1:00-2:00 pm.

Please omit flowers. The best way to remember Jim would be to perform an act of kindness for another person.
