Minister Brenda Nelson
Founder of DTS Dance Ministry & DIRECTOR
Born and raised in Kingston Jamaica, Brenda began dancing at age six on the streets of her community. While attending primary school Brenda met Ms. Moreen Miles, who took an interest in her and began to teach her the basic steps in dancing. Miles direction Brenda began competing in dance with different schools and other groups. After
finishing primary school Brenda continued to compete in dance under Ms. Miles’s direction. Later, Ms. Miles started her own dance group called “Unity Culture Dance Troupe”. Brenda continued to dance and compete against other dance groups. In 1999 Brenda migrated to the United States. In 2001, after attending First Community Church of GOD in Brooklyn New York, Brenda gave her life over to God. In August of 2001, she left New York City for Atlanta, Georgia their she would find her new church home, Total Grace Christian Center (TGCC). While at TGCC, God would confirm her calling as a Minister of Dance. Brenda ministered as a liturgical dancer at TGCC for over a decade and also gave over sight to the children’s dance ministry. Brenda is endowed with God’s anointing. That anointing equips her to lead souls to Christ so that yokes can be destroyed, deliverance can come and captives can be set free. In September of 2003, Brenda appeared in a gospel play “Yes Lord” written by Patrice Johnson Pennington, where she ministered dance. In 2005 she appears in another gospel play called “Do You Love Me” where she ministered in dance. Brenda continued in ministry when she was called upon to dance at the Juanita Bynum “Threshing Floor Conference”. She was also featured in the Rising Son Magazine, “Touching Spirit.”
In 2009 Brenda started her own liturgical dancewear and dance class call David’s Tabernacle School of Worship Praise and Dance (DTSD) where she makes dance garments and equip the people of God in dance and the word. She provides understanding and knowledge to those who have a desire to minister in dance. Her ministry includes choreography and teaching excellence in dance to other dance ministries. Brenda embodies the word by living her life for Christ. She continues to walk out her calling by equipping the people of GOD. By ministering the word through the art of dance, she believes that dance has the power to save souls. Thus her mission in life is to preach the gospel through dance. Just as preachers use their voice as an instrument to preach the gospel, she uses dance to minister and serve the people of GOD!
