Thankful for another blessed Sunday and for the many people who are eager to share God’s word with us!

At our Lisle service, Theon Hill preached on Ephesians 4:1-6 reminding us that Christ calls us to community. You see, as the church, we aren’t simply a social club, we aren’t a charity organization, we aren’t an advocacy group. At the core, we are a community of broken people.

In the City we had the privilege of hearing from Joshua Suh as he shared on 2 Kings 20:1-11, encouraging us to turn to God in prayer, trust in God’s word, and to walk by faith.

On Sunday we were blessed to hear a riveting message by Dr. Theon on Nehemiah 4! He reminded us that opposition to God’s work is inevitable. What matters in the end is our foundation! What keeps you standing when the enemies God try to discourage, threaten or defeat the work that God has called you to do?

Whatever it is that God is calling you do to — whether it’s simply living with integrity or raising children who love God — remember this: your confidence does not come from your own hands or other’s opinion, it comes from our God who is great and awesome, the one whose foundation never cracks. When opposition comes you will still be strong and standing because your foundation is firm.

On Sunday we had the great privilege of hearing from one of the missionary families we support — Simon and Hana Hsu, who are based in Taiwan. It was such a blessing to hear their heartfelt stories and testimonies of how God has been working! What a great reminder that God is always working and he often works in the most unexpected ways.

Pastor Sam also continued our series with a sermon on Nehemiah 3, reminding us that the only thing we are called to participate in building up now that will last into eternity, besides our relationship with God, is the church! And God isn’t just raising up competent builders, but those with Christ-like character. Skill builds quickly, but character builds what is quality.

TRC let’s be a church that is patiently being built up by the chief architect, Jesus Christ, AND is also faithfully building up His church with fellow builders in Christ!

Lastly, we had the opportunity to fellowship together after service during Connection Sunday! We celebrated all of the recent birthdays and reflected on how God has gifted each of us in different ways!

What a blessing Sunday at TRC! Not only were we able to observe communion together at both locations, but we celebrated our high school graduate, Ava Babyar, in Lisle, and covered her in prayer as a church.

Pastor Sam also continued in our Nehemiah series by preaching from Nehemiah 2. He reminded us that we can move courageously in life not because of an absence of fear, but because of God’s presence. We can plan faithfully and have a powerful vision even in the midst of ruin and rubble because our God is always on the move, and He invites us to cooperate in what He is doing.

We are grateful for all that God is building in and through our church this season! Let’s continue to move forward with great anticipation and hope together!

On Sunday, Pastor Sam preached a powerful sermon prayer through Nehemiah 1:4-11. We were also blessed to have Elder Eugene give the children’s sermon in Lisle!

In the context of our world today where many around us question the power of prayer, we were reminded that the power to move with boldness will only come when we learn to sit in prayerful weakness. When God convicts His people to sit in prayer, He is getting them ready to move in faith because oftentimes God needs to first work on our hearts before He will work through our hands.

“We need never shout across the space to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thoughts” — AW TOZER

TRC family, let us be people who sit long in prayer, lean heavily in prayer, and move boldly in prayer 🙏

On Sunday, Dr. Theon kicked off our new series on Nehemiah titled, Rebuilding together: God’s faithfulness through seasons of change. He preached on the first 4 verses of the book, giving us an introduction to Nehemiah, his character, and the context. We saw that Nehemiah exemplified the foundations of Biblical faithfulness through his willingness to have his heart broken by the things that broke the heart of God.

Because we are all one in Christ we are bound to one another — called to feel each other’s pain, carry each other’s burdens, and rejoice with one another. Our greatest work as Christians does not begin with our hands, but rather it begins on our knees, it starts with stillness in prayer 🙏🩷

What a beautiful Sunday we had this past weekend at The Redemption Church. Pastor Jong delivered his final sermon as senior pastor of TRC, and imparted last words of wisdom and love focused on the topic of being “Changed for Good by Grace”.

We were also blessed to have the opportunity to pray for Pastor Jong and Janet as they prepare for their next season of life, and to send them off with all the love and support of TRC. We are so grateful beyond words for their 15 years of sacrifice, shepherding, and selflessness in pouring into our family. Thank you so much for being faithful to the calling of planting TRC, being unwavering in what is true, and steadfast in your love for Jesus and others.

Also, a special thank you to all who made the service and appreciation banquet possible! We are so grateful for your time, energy, and love that was poured out this Sunday. It was truly a blessing time!

Let’s continue to pray for Pastor Jong and Janet, but also for TRC as we enter into a new season with great hope and expectation in what the Lord has planned for all of us!

Another beautiful Sunday. We celebrated our graduating Wheaton College seniors at the Lisle service (special thanks to Sam Lin for his ministry there) and were reminded through Psalm 139 that we are deeply known and loved by God. P. Sam preached how we don’t have to convince God to stay close—He intricately made us, stitching one cell to another with infinite care. He is with us wherever we go or whatever we go through. His love and consideration flows through every part of our story. Thank you Jesus!

What a wonderful Resurrection Sunday at TRC!

We witnessed beautiful baptisms and confirmations, each one a living testimony of God’s grace and faithfulness. Hearts were moved as stories of redemption were shared—so much joy in the room!

P. Jong brought a Word from Revelation 5, reminding us of our Reigning Redeemer—the Worthy Lamb who was slain (the cross) but now stands (the resurrection). Christ is not just risen; He reigns!

We ended the day with an Easter lunch filled with laughter, community, and celebration. Truly a foretaste of the feast to come!

He is risen indeed.

Today at both services, Dr. Hill preached on the Servant Redeemer from John 13. The One who had all things placed into His hands used those very hands to wash feet.

As darkness was doing its worst, Light was shining its brightest.

May we walk in the way of the Servant King this Holy Week.
