Good afternoon,

We are so sorry to have to announce this, but due to a death in the family, we have decided we need to cancel the youth event.

It was a hard decision to make, but the one we feel most peace about.

We are so sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this causes.

We are so excited to be having Warring thru Worship at Elkhorn Valley Christian Service Camp again this year!

They have such a beautiful camp and such a perfect place for us to spend the weekend! I find it's always so much easier to focus on and connect with God when I am surrounded by His beauty. And it truly does feel like He's a little bit closer at camp!❤️

So in light of the last couple posts about the darkness of Halloween, what can we do?

When looking at something as dark and evil and big as Halloween, and really, so much of the world today, it's easy to feel small. We recognize that it's wrong, and we wish it would change, but what can we do? We're just one person.

Except we're not. We are part of a whole army of people. God's people. God's army. We're not helpless. We can bring about change. And it's more simple than you may think.

It starts with worship and time in the presence of our Heavenly Father. That may sound cliche, and
You may feel like, 'ok but what else?', but that's really where the power lies. The power to bring change. The power to push back the darkness. The power to take back ground from the enemy. It starts with Worship.

And I know that can feel vague. So many of us have a skewed picture of what worship really is. How do we worship in a way that taps into heavens power and brings about change?

That's what this weekend is all about! Learning to access and operate out of new level of relationship with Jesus, and therefore stepping into a kind of worship that really does bring change!

We keep mentioning Halloween and 'the darkness of the season' and worship being a way to war. But why? Is Halloween really a big deal? Are we demonizing a simple holiday that's really just about dressing up and eating candy?

When speaking about Halloween, Anton Levey, founder of the Church of Satan and author of the satanic bible, thanked Christian parents for letting their children worship Satan at least one night of the year.

John Ramirez, an ex-satanist of 25 years who was a high level warlock, said a Christian observing Halloween is like cheating on Jesus and having a one night stand with the devil.

Halloween is all about death and darkness and fear. Every aspect and tradition that is a part of Halloween, from costumes to jack-o'-lanterns to trick or treating, originates from a very dark, gory history.

Jesus is the author of light and life, and he told us to fill our minds with things that are true and pure and just. He says he has not given us a spirit of fear. Why would we as God's people desire to have any part of something that so clearly opposes that?

Why 'Warring' thru Worship? What does that even mean? To answer that question, I should start by giving a little bit of the history of how and why Warring thru Worship started.

Warring thru Worship was born out of my musings in the weeks leading up to Halloween 2013, when I was 14. Our pastor at the time mentioned in passing about the increasing darkness he always felt the days and weeks before Halloween. It set me on a trail of thoughts that I couldn’t get away from.

I felt both sad and angry that so much darkness and pain has been allowed to rule a whole portion of the year. Why were God’s people okay with that? I wanted something to change. And then God planted a seed in my mind about a small part that I could play in bringing about that change.

He gave me a vision of hosting a big worship service on Halloween night. On a night when most of the country is quite literally worshipping Satan, I wanted to bring together a group of Christians to tip the scales in the other direction by focusing on God and bringing glory to Him. I wanted to do my part to start taking back stolen ground.

I wanted to join the battle, and do my share of the warring, by spending time in worship before the one who we know has already won the war.

Whether we realize it or not, there is a war going on all around us, and we all have a part to play in it. The Bible says we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers and spiritual darkness in high places, and It tells us to put on the full armor of God. If God uses war language to talk about life, it makes sense to me that we should as well. And one of the most powerful ways we can war is through worship.
