Ecclesiastes is a book that can be depressing if read in the wrong attitude, but the truth the even the author comes to find is that we should find joy in the living of life. Life may not always be great. There may be trials. There will be work. Life can be hard. In all of this, we can find satisfaction in the accomplishments we make in the activities of living life. We cannot forget to find joy in the journey.

We are not built to be constantly in motion. God created us to have a rhythm, and He demonstrated that rhythm from the beginning. We need rest, and without it we are not living in the image of God. Are you resting each week?

The picture of eternity given in Revelation is simple. A place of life. A place of comfort. A place of joy. A place devoid of pain. Any other description is simply words. No matter what Heaven physically looks like, the important part is that God will be with us.

The one thing we should never forget, yet often do, is our value in God's eyes. We are often guilty of saying that God has more important thing to do than listen to me. We sometimes believe that we aren't "worth it." The problem with that thinking is that we are the pinnacle of God's creation. God cares for us, and He wishes to give us the things we need. You matter to God.

I find this verse very telling in its context. The verse before it speaks of blessing coming to those who fear and obey the Lord. What is that blessing? You will eat the fruit of your labor. It doesn't say God is just going to give me everything. It says God will make my labor prosperous. That, I fear, is where many people begin to fall away from the gospel. They expect blessing to simply fall when God's word often speaks of blessing coming in the guise of the prosperity of our work. Faith is not lazy.

We don't walk through this world alone. God is always with us. He surrounds us so that we are protected. Sometimes that protection is hard to see, but the damage would be more if it were not there. God walks with us, and helps us stand against the schemes of the enemy.
