In 1654 Pascal wrote “All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone”.

Almost 400 years later and it has only gotten worse. We live in a distracted society. Constantly preoccupied with something other than silence. Our days are filled with noise and activity. Somehow most Christians have convinced themselves that it is a sin to not be doing something, myself included. Moments when I am able to sit and be still mostly end up with my guilty conscience making me feel like there’s something I could be doing that’s more productive- more important.

Speaking through the Psalmist God told us that we should “be still and know that I am God”

The word reminds us that being still is not sin, it is the opposite. It is a spiritual discipline in which we are centered in the reality that we are known and loved by God. God’s presence as often thicker in the midst of silence and solitude.

Can I give you permission to sit still for three minutes today? To turn off your phone, your music, the TV or whatever else is breaking through the silence of your day.

Can I invite you to be quiet and just focus on God for three minutes today? To allow him to fill your cup.

Can I encourage you to live into the words of scripture today? To quiet yourself in the presence of your maker and ask him to reveal something deep about him himself to you.

It might not fix the world’s problems, it might not change the situation, but I guarantee you it will settle your heart and perhaps even give you more peace than you have had in a long time.

If you take three minutes for silence, perhaps just drop a comment to let others know they are not doing it alone today. Let’s encourage each other to focus on Christ.

⚠️ ARE YOU READY? ⚠️
Jesus told a story about 10 bridesmaids waiting in the dark…

Some were prepared.
Some were not.

When the midnight cry came — “Here is the bridegroom!” — it was too late to get ready.

This Sunday at Mt. Zion, we’ll walk through Matthew 25:1–13 and talk about:
🕯️ Spiritual readiness
🕯️ Endurance in the waiting
🕯️ Living with expectation
🕯️ Keeping oil in your lamp

Join us as we ask the hard but necessary question:
If Jesus returned today… would you be ready?

In a world of constant conflict and division, how do we live as people of peace? This week's message reminds us that while we can't control world peace, we can bring Christ's peace to our world.

The reality is simple yet profound: true peace isn't a policy problem, it's a heart problem. Romans 12 challenges us - "If possible, so far as it depends on you, live at peace with all." When we have the power to escalate or defuse, to curse or bless, to tear down or build up, we must choose peace.

The greatest way to bring peace? Share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because when peace rules in the human heart through transformation in Christ, it begins to rule in our communities. We can't change the whole world, but we can be agents of God's shalom in our neighborhoods, our families, our daily interactions.

Where is God calling you to be a peacemaker today?
