ATTENTION! I am reaching out to share a personal and urgent situation. My husband has been diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure, by no fault of his own and needs a kidney transplant. This news has been overwhelming for us, but we remain hopeful and determined to find a donor. We're exploring all options, including living donors, because without a living donor, the wait list is approximately 2 to 8 years. If you or someone you know might be interested in becoming a living donor, please reach out to someone on the contact list included or via Facebook, Private message, through messenger, or by text, to me, either of my sons, or my daughter-in-law who can get you more information on getting tested- we are all in this process together now, So I ask that you join us!
Additionally, and most importantly, we ask for your prayers and encouragement during this time. We believe in the power of prayer and the faithfulness of our Lord and know we can navigate this challenging journey in the days, and months, etc... ahead, no matter the obstacles he is facing. For now, Doug is stable. He currently does peritoneal Dialysis at home every day for 9 Hours per night/7 days a week. He only has 4% kidney function.
BACK ON THE "ACTIVE LIST" for needing a donor. Doug is a man of very few words, but he is as big hearted as they come. He is the most loving husband, father and friend. And If you have ever known Doug, is committed and as helpful, as his body allows him to be to those in need. He is faithful, funny, loving and (can be stubborn), lol, but he is always there when we need him. We are praying that a match will soon be found, so he can continue to enjoy life the way he used to and feel the love he has given to so many people in his life. Will you join us? Thank you and God Bless!! ⚘️🙏
UVA has several protocols as far as information. If anyone is interested in possibly being a donor, They can contact the UVA living donor center
@ 1-800-543-8814 and ask for the living donor office.
This call takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes. All calls are confidential. Donor information is not shared with Potential recipient. Only donors determine what information to share if any.
Doug's Blood type is O+ which is a rare type, however that doesn't mean you have to be an absolute match, depending on certain circumstances but that's something UVA would have to discuss with the person of interest!!
Before you call UVA you will need 2 things from a contact person listed below,
Doug’s full name
Doug’s birth date
We can’t provide that information in this document due to UVA’s guidelines.
