we strive to share God’s message with today’s world. Guided by God’s Word and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we actively
invite people into a relationship with Jesus Christ, nurture disciples,
and serve and love others as God loves the world. We have a practical way of caring for each other here. Just recall the ways we pray for each other, visit and fellowship with each other, send cards, deliver meals, spread urgent news through our Prayer Chain, and E-mail ideas to each other. We study the Holy Bible with a focus on how to live our lives in the real world. Our 3 adult classes, our hosting of the School of Faith and Life, the Jesus in the Gospels study, our short-term studies – these all exemplify our interest in applying a Biblical faith to the real world. We strive for spiritual depth. When we consider new ideas and programs, we often ask how we can meet persons’ needs and yet avoid selling the Gospel of Jesus Christ cheap. We have a new and firm emphasis on reaching out to the needs of teens and young adults. The leaders of our Youth Group and Young Adults of LHUMC group have some very special and important ideas and are focused on ways to increase Christian ministry with our young Christians. Our members bring a wide variety of experiences and backgrounds to our faith community. From many birthplaces and many different work experiences to the frequent traveling and personal interests and needs – our members contribute to a rich and diverse fabric of belief in Jesus Christ. Our members are deeply committed to Christ’s work in this community and our world. Our Missions efforts locally and overseas, our Caring Ministries, our reaching the needs of the children at the Board of Child care and offering shelter and support to homeless men in the area are all fine examples. We are building on the continuing strengths of our church while at the same time willing to try out new ideas. Through the many different guest speakers and special events we have throughout the year to the input and feedback we receive from the different church committees, our church maintains both its valued traditions as well as its willingness to ask what new things the Lord wants us to try. We have a good balance between mature leaders and young leaders. From our church school teachers and leadership to our missions work and our youth and young adult ministries, we are able to depend upon the commitment of both our seniors and the younger generation of leadership. Our members remain very committed to making our church attractive and accessible to all kinds of personal needs in the community. We are now seriously planning to increase our accessibility to handicapped persons. We continue to look for new ways to reach out to young families and their needs as well as to reach older adults, teens, young adults and middle adults
We are devoted to doing God’s will together as we build for tomorrow those ministries which are urgently needed today. We are planning for a strong church school, vital caring ministries and a host of continued missions and program ideas to meet the needs of our members and the community.
