Featured Saint of the Month (April 2026):
Saint Faustina Kowalska – The Divine Mercy

Helen Kowalska was born in the village of Glogowiec, Poland in 1905. From the early age of seven, she experienced a call from God to live a religious life. On April 30, 1926 she was given the name Sister Maria Faustina of the Blessed Sacrament. She died on October 5, 1938 at the age of 33.

Beginning in 1934, she kept a written log of the visions and private revelations she had experienced in six notebooks. These notebooks are now contained in a single book called, The Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska: Divine Mercy in My Soul. (Book is available at the Saint Philip Lil Shop for purchase.)

In Saint Faustina’s diary, she explains several ways that Jesus wants devotion to His Mercy to spread:

1. The Image: Meditating upon the image of Divine Mercy. This image is of Jesus, with two rays of light shining from His Heart, one blue (water) and one red (blood), representing the Sacraments of Baptism and the Eucharist. An inscription below the image reads: Jesus, I trust in You.

2. Feast of Mercy: Instituting the Solemnity of Divine Mercy on the Sunday after Easter. (Solemnity is defined as the state of being deeply serious, dignified, and formal, often characterized by quiet reflection, reverence, or awe.) One should go to confession and receive Holy Communion.

3. The Hour of Great Mercy: Pray asking for our Lord’s Mercy every day on the three o’clock hour, the hour that recalls His death on the cross.

4. Chaplet: Praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. The goal of this is to obtain mercy, trust in Christ’s mercy, and show mercy to others. (Prayer Card is available at the Saint Philip Lil Shop for purchase.)

5. Novena: Nine days of prayer. Each day having a different intention, bring souls to the fountain of our Lord’s Mercy. (Prayer Pamphlet is available at the Saint Philip Lil Shop for purchase.)
~First Day: Good Friday (April 3, 2026) Mercy to all mankind, especially all sinners.
~Second Day: (April 4) Mercy to the souls of priests and religious.
~Third Day: (April 5) Mercy to all devout and faithful souls.
~Fourth Day: (April 6) Mercy to the pagans and those who do not yet know the Lord.
~Fifth Day: (April 7) Mercy to the souls of those who have separated themselves from the church.
~Sixth Day: (April 8 ) Mercy to the meek and humble souls and the souls of little children.
~Seventh Day: (April 9) Mercy to the souls who especially venerate and glorify the Lord’s mercy.
~Eighth Day: (April 10) Mercy to the souls who are detained in purgatory.
~Ninth Day: (April 11) Mercy to souls who have become lukewarm. (Lukewarm is defined as souls without love or devotion, full of egoism and selfishness, souls full of deceit and hypocrisy. Basically, souls that have just enough warmth to keep themselves alive.)
