Rotary District 5230 has again partnered with GEM (Global Empowerment Mission) to bring 250 mattresses and two 53' semi-trailers filled with household items (small appliances, light fixtures, faucets etc.) for the victims of the recent floods in the Sierra Foothills (Tulare County). These items have been secured through GEM with the funds we have received from our RI Disaster Relief Grant and your generous donations to our District 5230 Disaster Relief Fund. We are still raising funds for future phases, so please get your donations in and help us continue to provide this much needed relief!

Trucks will be arriving on Thursday, April 13 at the City of Lindsey Corporate Yard. We are in need of Rotary volunteers (including friends of Rotary & Interact) to help unload the mattresses and home goods items on Thursday, April 13th, sort the items on Friday, April 14th in preparation for community distributions on Saturday, April 15th and Sunday, April 16th. Due to the weight of the mattresses, we will need some volunteers that are able to lift at least 35 pounds.

Tulare County community members, our fellow community members need your help! There are two wonderful service opportunities available this weekend in Springville, April 15th 8-1pm and in Lindsay April 13-16th. Please see the attached flyers and information for each service project below:

Springville Project-
Members of the Springville community hit by the flooding in March are still in need of some assistance. We will be joining members from other churches and service organizations for another day of service on April 15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Volunteers are encouraged to meet in the Springville Union School parking lot. There will not be a “Helping Hands” (yellow T-shirt) distribution for this project.

Please keep in mind that this project will be dirty and it would be a good idea to wear rubber boots and work gloves. Also, please consider bringing only older youth to help.

Thank you for your support! The people who attended the last project remember the love that was shared and tears that were shed by those who were served.
