Our Lindale Smokestacks Co-Ed Softball Team was awarded shared 2nd Place rings along with the Sherwood Disciples in a season-ending game that was called a draw in the bottom of the fourth inning because of weather. The league championship went to the undefeated Calvary Green, who finished the season 10-0.

In four innings of offense, the Smokestacks scored 8 runs on 11 hits. Aaron Wood went 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored. Noah Boyd was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs. Cole Baker was 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored. Eli Martin (1), Preston Frazier (2), and Ayden Frazier (1) also put up RBI’s tonight for Lindale.

We’re grateful for all our players, their dedication, and the character our team demonstrated. Congratulations to all the churches who participated and were worthy, fun competitors.

Special thanks to our “Skipper” Robby Dooley and the “GM” Tyler Whelchel. Also to Ashton Hudson who served as our “Ballpark DJ” for the season and our official statistician, PJ Frazier, who made it possible to share our game summaries with everyone! A huge thanks to all the family, friends, and FBC Family who came out all season to support and enjoy the fun! It was quite an improvement from a 1-9 record last season!

Cole Baker’s Clutch Hitting Propels Lindale Smokestacks To Victory Over Brotherhood Bears (Cornerstone Church)!

The Bears got on the board in the top of the second inning, 4-0. Aaron Wood homered in the park to right field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second for the Smokestacks, 4-2.

Cornerstone added to their early lead in the top of the third inning, extending their lead to 8-2. Then, the Smokestacks tacked on one more in the bottom of the third on a solo home run, another to right field, this time by Rob Whelchel.

But everything changed when the Smokestacks flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, down 9-3, by the scoring seven runs on eight hits to take the lead, 10-9. RBIs from Sarah Harris (1), Cole Baker (1), Aaron Wood (1), Noah Boyd (1), and Rob Whelchel (1). A single by Ben Whelchel that drove in two.

Five more Lindale Smokestacks runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 15-9. Cole Baker hit a grand slam to center field, and Preston Frazier hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
The defense then held the Bears to one run in the top of the seventh for a 15-10 final score!

Rob Whelchel earned the win in relief for Lindale. The hurler allowed four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out none and walking two. Caleb Hamilton stepped in the circle first for Lindale Smokestacks.

Lindale Smokestacks tallied 20 hits in the game. Aaron Wood and Noah Boyd were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Lindale Smokestacks. Ben Whelchel, Rob Whelchel, Ayden Frazier, and Preston Frazier each collected multiple hits for Lindale Smokestacks. The Lindale infield turned one double play in the game.

Cole Baker tallied 5 RBIs on 2 hits, a double and a grand slam. Aaron Wood went 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Noah Boyd also went 3-for-3 with one RBI. It was a great, whole-team offensive effort for the Smokestacks tonight.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Lindale Smokestacks collected 20 hits and Brotherhood Bears (Cornerstone Church) 13 in the high-scoring affair.

The final game of the season for your Lindale Smokestacks is TOMORROW vs. the Sherwood Disciples. Come out and join the fun for this final challenge of the year!
