THANK YOU for supporting Operation Classroom! Philoptochos wishes to shout out a big THANKS to all who purchased new school supplies for the students at Lotus Elementary School in Fox Lake. We collected more than 1,900 items for these students, who are in need of assistance. On Monday, August 17th, Kathie Rutkowski delivered her vehicle full of these supplies to Principal Matt Peters. He was so happy and appreciative, as he accepted supplies for his students. God bless all of you!!

LET'S HELP STUDENTS in need of school supplies! ✏📓✂🖍Families in Lake County need our help supplying their children for the upcoming school year. That’s why we ask you to support OPERATION CLASSROOM, a National Philoptochos initiative designed to aid students and teachers in underfunded communities. We're collecting specific new school supplies for the Lotus Elementary School in Fox Lake, IL. See the flyer for details. Boxes for the school supplies are in the Anagnos Fellowship Hall—look for the Operation Classroom poster. Please bring your donations to the church, any time there is a Service or Monday thru Friday 9am to 3pm, through August 16th. THANK YOU!!

It was a CELEBRATION OF GIVING at Dover Straits Seafood House on June 2! Ascension Philoptochos reflected on a year of serving with joy, and announced the charitable organizations that will receive disbursements from our successful fundraising efforts. This wonderful dinner and fellowship is a year-end tradition for our chapter. We look forward to a fresh start and new endeavors this fall--come join us!

SATURDAY OF SOULS Koliva Bowls are available to remember your loved ones this Saturday. We understand that many families may not have all the ingredients on hand or the time needed to prepare koliva themselves. To support our community during this meaningful observance, Philoptochos will prepare a limited number of beautifully decorated small round koliva bowls (8” x 3”) for the upcoming Saturday of Souls service on Saturday, May 30. To place an order, please contact Jeannie Thomas at [email protected]. Orders must be placed no later than Wednesday, May 27. The suggested donation is $50 per bowl. Please bring cash or check when picking up your koliva on Saturday morning, preferably between 8:00–9:00 am as Liturgy begins. Checks should be made payable to Ascension Philoptochos. Thank you for allowing Philoptochos to assist your family in honoring the memory of your loved ones through this beautiful and sacred tradition.

Among the cherry blossoms 🌸 (and during an epic thunderstorm!) we celebrated our Pascha Glendi on Friday, April 17. The Concorde was in full bloom, and we are grateful to all who enabled us to Spring Forth With Joy! Your support makes such a difference in our mission as friends of the poor! Thank you!!
