Dear MiddleCross family,

Many have asked the question of when we will be regathering as a community for worship on Sunday mornings. As we have prayed and discussed, the leadership has landed on May 31 as the target date that we will be reconnecting together in worship at the MiddleCross facility. Of course this date is held lightly as we see what takes place as Lincoln reopens, but we wanted you to be aware of our plan. There will be more details coming soon of what it looks like to come together and contimue to pray for us as we seek to define the proper guidelines for our gatherings as we are still in a sensitive time. We will continue as we have with the order of service and 242 Zoom gatherings at 10am Sunday until that time.

As we have recevied encouragement from our district leadership that we should use the opportunity this season grants to refocus rather than simply return to normal, we are seeking God as a leadership team. We would ask you also to pray for this, that we would be sensitive to following the leadership of the Spirit and be wise in what the opportunities are in front of us to step into what His desire is for MiddleCross to be as we seek to find a direction that allows us all to find a "place to Belong," a deepening "Belief in Jesus," and opportunities to "Bring good news."

We've All Been Exposed

We’ve all been exposed.
Not necessarily to the virus
(maybe…who even knows ).
We’ve all been exposed BY the virus.

Corona is exposing us.
Exposing our weak sides.
Exposing our dark sides.
Exposing what normally lays far beneath the surface of our souls,
hidden by the invisible masks we wear.
Now exposed by the paper masks we can’t hide far enough behind.

Corona is exposing our addiction to comfort.
Our obsession with control.
Our compulsion to hoard.
Our protection of self.

Corona is peeling back our layers.
Tearing down our walls.
Revealing our illusions.
Leveling our best-laid plans.

Corona is exposing the gods we worship:
Our health
Our hurry
Our sense of security.
Our favorite lies
Our secret lusts
Our misplaced trust.

Corona is calling everything into question:
What is the church without a building?
What is my worth without an income?
How do we plan without certainty?
How do we love despite risk?

Corona is exposing me.
My mindless numbing
My endless scrolling
My careless words
My fragile nerves.

We’ve all been exposed.
Our junk laid bare.
Our fears made known.
The band-aid torn.
The masquerade done.

So what now? What’s left?
Clean hands
Clear eyes
Tender hearts.

What Corona reveals, God can heal.

Come Lord Jesus.
Have mercy on us.

Hey MiddleCross! A few of you have contacted me asking for a way to connect with our beloved kiddos that we don’t get to see every week anymore! So here’s an opportunity to “adopt” a family at MCC. It certainly doesn’t have to be much, and can even be mailed! But it will mean the world to our kiddos to hear from their church family.💛

Example: I grab a treat from the store and include a coloring page for the kiddos in my assigned family and drop it at their doorstep. Or, I grab a pre-packaged craft at Hobby Lobby or Michael’s to mail to them.
