A Legacy of Faith: Looking Back to 1991 🌙 🕌

Alhumdulillah, as we look toward our new expansions, it is humbling to look back at where we started.

This is the cover of the Islamic Foundation of Lincoln newsletter from March 1991.

Back then, our community gathered at 2147 R Street. While our location and size have changed, our mission remains the same. The prayer featured on this cover still echoes in our homes today:

"O'Allah I keep fast for your sake and believed in you and put in you my trust and break my fast with food provided by you."

Community Challenge: Were you or your family part of IFL in 1991? Do you remember the R Street building? Tag someone who has been part of this journey for 30+ years! May Allah reward the founders who laid the bricks of this foundation so that we could grow into the vibrant community we are today.

Former IFL President Khalil Jaber has been named the 2026 Nebraska Engineering Pillar Award winner! 🏆 We are incredibly proud to see Khalil recognized by ACEC Nebraska for his lifelong dedication to our industry and his continued leadership at NDOT. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

We’re proud to recognize Khalil Jaber, NDOT’s Chief Operating Officer, on recently being named the 2026 Nebraska Engineering Pillar Award winner by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Nebraska (ACEC). Recently promoted to COO, Khalil previously served as NDOT’s Deputy Director of Engineering.

This award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the engineering profession and supported the growth of Nebraska’s engineering community. Over nearly 36 years at NDOT, Khalil’s leadership, mentorship and commitment to advancing engineering in our state have left a lasting impact.

Join us in congratulating Khalil on this well-deserved recognition and his contributions to the transportation system that keeps Nebraska moving.

Eid Mubarak to our wonderful community! 🌙✨

What an incredible sight today! We were truly blessed to welcome over 4,000 brothers and sisters for the Eid prayer. Seeing the rows filled with so much unity and joy was the highlight of our morning.

May Allah (SWT) accept our fasts, our prayers, and our charity. May He bring peace, prosperity, and endless blessings to your homes and to the entire Ummah. Ameen.

We are pleased to share that we have officially purchased the supplies for this year’s Zakat al-Fitr distribution. Bulk stocks of rice, beans, and flour have arrived and are being prepared for delivery to families in need.

Your contributions are being transformed into nutritious meals. Thank you for trusting us to facilitate this beautiful obligation of Ramadan.
