Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads people of faith to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul. Organized locally, Vincentians witness God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice.
Almost all of our resources come from parish donations. A contribution to St. Vincent de Paul is unlike any other: Every single cent—100%— goes to those in need. Not one dime goes to any administrative costs. We never spend parishioner money on fundraising or any other overhead expense. With the exception of an occasional donation to the St. Vincent de Paul disaster relief fund every dollar of every contribution is spent to aid the less fortunate in the Lincoln area. Our mission is focused on helping the people in our immediate community.
your friends and neighbors in the parish dispense your contributions. We believe we are very prudent with your money.
Forms and bureaucracy do not drive us. Vincentians make decisions by talking with people. We go out in pairs and personally meet nearly all the people we help, most often by sitting in their living room or at their kitchen table and listening. We try to understand as best we can our neighbors’ circumstances. We ask ourselves what God would have us do.
Vincentians focus on the corporal works of mercy. We offer aid to those without food, facing eviction, turned off utilities, living without beds and furniture, and many other forms of emergency services.
