Every Sunday, right after Communion in Special Needs Welcome service, my children say The Lord's Prayer. Some read from the colorful print out I provide, others have it memorized, and my non or mostly nonverbal children pray it silently, in the deepest recesses of their hearts. Like most of us, they know the Lord's Prayer. But do they really hear and understand the full meaning of the words they're saying? The prayer that Jesus taught his disciples long ago, when they asked Him to teach them to pray like he prayed to The Father.

Tomorrow, August 22nd, in our Special Needs Welcome Service at noon, we're going to share the heartwarming story, Loved: The Lord's Prayer. It's a tender, child friendly retelling of The Lord's Prayer. "Hello Father!" It begins. "We want to know you and be close to you." My hope is that in hearing this translation, my children and adults will better understand Jesus' beautiful prayer which teaches us to honor and respect God, to ask for guidance when we need it, and to forgive those who've hurt us.

So, join us, if you can, for this beautiful lesson in a safe, accepting space where all God's children are welcome and loved. Braden and I can't wait to see you there! ❤

NOTE TO PARENTS: We're still collecting dried pinto beans and other food essentials for our church pantry. Thank you for your generosity and kindness. 🙏

Give your worries to the Lord, and He will take care of you." Psalm 55:22

Everyone worries, but anxiety can be especially heart-wrenching for children with special needs. Whether they fret about making mistakes, going to a new school or program, making friends, or they're simply trying to deal with sensory overload, most differently abled people struggle with anxiety from time to time, and their parents do, too!

Please join us this Sunday, August 16th at St. James Church at noon for our Special Needs Welcome Service where I'll be sharing the beautiful, reassuring storybook "When Worry Whispers." Our children will learn that no matter how big or overwhelming the problem, God is BIGGER, and He's always in control. And if we try to stay calm and talk with Him, He'll help us get through all the worries of this life- however scary they may be.

So, join us if you can for this beautiful lesson in a safe, accepting space where all God's children are truly welcome and loved. Braden and I can't wait to see all your beautiful faces! 🥰

Hello, Special Needs Welcome family!

Please join us this Sunday, August 9 th, at noon at St. James Episcopal Church, for our Special Needs Welcome service. We'll be sharing the beautiful story, The Miracle of the Bread, the Fish and the Boy, by Anthony DeStefano. In this retelling of the Parable of the Loaves and Fishes, our children will learn about the wonderful gift of generosity. But the lesson doesn't end there! They'll also learn that if they trust God and give from their hearts, even the smallest of contributions can help others, and have a ripple effect throughout our community. Just as Jesus was able to feed five thousand people with only a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish, we each can make a difference in the lives of those who are food insecure.
Toward that end, I'm excited to share that the children and young adults of our ministry have been faithfully bringing food donations for our church pantry for well over a year now! And as a gesture of appreciation, the folks at the pantry are giving them a party directly after service!!! What a beautiful way to say thank you, and to reinforce the idea that acts of kindness have a way of multiplying and returning to us in loving, unexpected ways!

Our children are so capable. They have such loving, caring hearts, and they were created with a divine purpose. I'm looking forward to seeing all their donations along the altar rail in the coming weeks. But most of all, as I do every Sunday, I'm looking forward to worshipping with them, and seeing their precious, beautiful faces

What if God created you for something so special, so amazing, so big that you could change the world?

We'll learn that dreaming big is about becoming the wonderful, creative person God created you to be. You see, dreams grow from the creative spirit and individual spark God put in each of us to make a difference, to build something new, and to help the world. Each one of us can make a difference in the lives of others!

So join us, if you can, in a safe, accepting space where all God's children are welcome and loved! Braden and I can't wait to see your beautiful smiles! 🥰

And the greatest of all these is love."

1st Corinthians 13 is one of the most beautiful and meaningful passages from scripture. It tells us how powerful and necessary the gift of love is in our lives - especially the love of our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

This Sunday, July 19, in our Special Needs Welcome Service at St. James Church at noon, we'll share that incredible love with each other as we read Paula Escobar's beautifully illustrated story book. And we'll receive one of the purest expressions of love there is - the Holy Eucharist.

NOTE TO PARENTS: We're still collecting dried beans and other pantry items for our food pantry at St. James. Our local families have been so moved by your kindness and donations! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!
