Last Saturday, our parish was blessed to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with our young people who were sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Mass, celebrated by Bishop Jeffrey Monforton, was beautiful and spirit-filled as our Confirmandi publicly affirmed their faith and received the strengthening grace of this sacrament.

We are deeply grateful to Bishop Monforton for his presence and encouragement, and to Father Bechill for his guidance and support throughout the preparation process. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the families, sponsors, catechists, and parish community who have accompanied these young people on their faith journey. Most especially, we congratulate our newly confirmed students and pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide them as faithful disciples of Christ.

O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today
Queen of the Angels
And Queen of the May
O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today
Queen of the Angels
And Queen of the May

Despite the wind and rain on Tuesday, our May Crowning celebration was filled with beauty, faith, and great joy! We were blessed to gather for Mass, honor our Blessed Mother with the crowning of Mary, and enjoy an ice cream social together afterward.

It was especially wonderful to have some of our First Communicants join us, along with many parishioners and school families. When the rain finally let up, we were able to crown the beautiful statue of Mary outside our school β€” a perfect ending to a lovely celebration.

Dear JP2 Community,

I am delighted to share exciting news with you St. John Paul II Classical Catholic School has been awarded a grant from the Archdiocese of Detroit to expand our Montessori and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program for the 2026–2027 school year!

When we announced the opening of our Montessori and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program in July 2025, we prayed it would be a meaningful addition to our school community. Thanks to the tremendous enthusiasm and support from families, the program has been an incredible success and has already reached full capacity for the upcoming school year. In response to this growing demand, we applied for and were blessed to receive grant funding to expand this important offering.

This exciting expansion will include the addition of a second Montessori classroom, allowing us to increase enrollment opportunities for more families seeking this beautiful foundation for their young children. Our Montessori program will serve 3 and 4 year olds, with flexible scheduling options including 4 or 5 day half-day and full day programs.

We are especially grateful for the exceptional leadership and dedication of Mrs. Tyrybon, who has done an outstanding job establishing and nurturing this program. We are thrilled that she will be returning next year to continue her wonderful work with our youngest learners. To support this growth, we have also posted a position for an additional certified Montessori teacher to work alongside her. If you know someone who may be interested, please encourage them to contact the school office or submit their information. Posting can be found on the AOD website.

Our Montessori program, paired with Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, offers a uniquely beautiful beginning for children, one that nurtures independence, wonder, and joyful discovery while fostering a deep and personal relationship with Christ. The expansion of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program will allow for creation of a dedicated atrium along with training of additional staff members.

We are deeply grateful for your continued trust and support as we grow and strengthen the mission of St. John Paul II Classical Catholic School. We would like to thank the Archdiocese of Detroit for their support of our mission to offer children an education guided by truth, beauty, and goodness. St. John Paul II looks forward to continuing to form Saints in the Making for many more years to come.

Blessings,
Mrs. Melissa Manczak
Principal

When you are a part of CGS Youth Ministry, it seems like there is always someone to thank. That is because it takes a village to do Youth Ministry, and our CGS Parish Village is the best! Thank you to all who purchased baked goods and pepperoni rolls at our Teen Forum Mother's Day Bake Sale last weekend - we just about sold out of everything! All proceeds will be used to support upcoming Youth Ministry events.

Thanks also to our fantastic parishioners who donated delicious baked goods. We appreciate you! And last, but certainly not least, thanks so much to all our Teen Forum families and young people who spent Saturday morning and afternoon baking and decorating (and cleaning). It is a huge job – and we especially appreciate the amazing moms and young adults who took time out of their Mother’s Day Weekend to make sure everything came together. We hope you all enjoyed the sweet and savory treats!
