A friend invited Alicia to participate in a weekend ministry event at the Louisiana State Penitentiary just for fun. Alicia caught the prison ministry bug and within 18 months the
Lord had opened the door for Alicia and a team of women from Colorado Springs to begin volunteering at La Vista Correctional Facility, a 500-bed women’s prison in the Colorado Department of Corrections. Alicia grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, attended high school in Waterloo, Belgium, has degrees from Auburn University and the University of Houston, and completed a Certificate in Correctional Ministry from Wheaton College. She has had a career in ministry serving with Young Life camping for 17 years and as the executive administrator at Front Range Alliance Church (Colorado Springs) since May 2018. Having served at La Vista Correctional Facility since February 2017 as a volunteer program leader and since May 2021 as an associate chaplain, the Lord has given Alicia “the affection of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:8) for the incarcerated women in her care. She is humbled and grateful to continue sharing the love of Jesus Christ at LVCF with Good News Global. Chaplain Reeves has joined the Good News Global staff as a part-time chaplain at La Vista Correctional Facility. She will also continue working part-time at Front Range Alliance Church. Her ministry to women at LVCF includes one-one-one sessions with offenders, small group discipleship, trauma healing groups, a weekly Friday evening gathering for worship and Bible study, special events, and hosting an annual Mom & Kids Christmas party in the prison with Front Range Alliance Church.
