A friend invited Alicia to participate in a weekend ministry event at the Louisiana State Penitentiary just for fun. Alicia caught the prison ministry bug and within 18 months the

Lord had opened the door for Alicia and a team of women from Colorado Springs to begin volunteering at La Vista Correctional Facility, a 500-bed women’s prison in the Colorado Department of Corrections. Alicia grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, attended high school in Waterloo, Belgium, has degrees from Auburn University and the University of Houston, and completed a Certificate in Correctional Ministry from Wheaton College. She has had a career in ministry serving with Young Life camping for 17 years and as the executive administrator at Front Range Alliance Church (Colorado Springs) since May 2018. Having served at La Vista Correctional Facility since February 2017 as a volunteer program leader and since May 2021 as an associate chaplain, the Lord has given Alicia “the affection of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:8) for the incarcerated women in her care. She is humbled and grateful to continue sharing the love of Jesus Christ at LVCF with Good News Global. Chaplain Reeves has joined the Good News Global staff as a part-time chaplain at La Vista Correctional Facility. She will also continue working part-time at Front Range Alliance Church. Her ministry to women at LVCF includes one-one-one sessions with offenders, small group discipleship, trauma healing groups, a weekly Friday evening gathering for worship and Bible study, special events, and hosting an annual Mom & Kids Christmas party in the prison with Front Range Alliance Church.

Around the world, incarceration does more than deprive people of physical freedom. It strips away identity—who a person is—and crushes hope—why they should keep going or change their ways? What is the purpose of their life? Shame becomes the loudest voice. Despair becomes the everyday reality. The future is bleak, stripped of hope and purpose.

But into the darkness, the Gospel speaks to those who are open and listening, offering freedom, identity, and hope.

It’s easy to forget those behind bars.

Out of sight…
Out of mind…
But not to God.

Every man and woman in a cell has a story.
A past.
A future.
And a soul deeply loved by Jesus.

Scripture reminds us to remember those in prison as if we were there with them.

Because compassion doesn’t stop at prison walls.
It steps inside.
It listens.
It shares the hope of Christ.

And that’s exactly what chaplains do every day. What a privilege to share the Good News with the forgotten behind bars.

Are you a passionate believer? Then let's GO together to proclaim the light, life, and love of Jesus behind bars.

We go to proclaim that true freedom begins in Christ.
We go to proclaim that hope is still possible behind bars.
We go to proclaim that identity is not defined by the worst mistake.

Let's GO!

We go where most people would never choose to go.

Into locked facilities.
Into solitary units.
Into places where shame feels heavier than chains.

Why?

Because men and women behind bars are not beyond redemption. They are not their worst mistake. They are in need of hope.

And when the Gospel is proclaimed, something remarkable happens — freedom rises in the very place freedom was taken. Identity and hope are restored through Christ.

That’s why we show up.
That’s why we stay.
That’s why we proclaim.

Let’s disrupt the darkness of incarceration with God’s Word and Christ’s redemption!

More than 11 million men and women are behind bars worldwide—living without hope and without the freedom only Christ can give.

The light of Jesus Christ is needed behind bars—shining into places marked by despair, isolation, and brokenness. When chaplains GO, the Gospel is proclaimed, and lives are transformed.

Let's GO and bring the gospel behind bars! Learn more at gnglobal.org.

Jails are full of people serving time, but they’re also full of people searching for hope.

Every day, our chaplains walk into cells and common areas with a simple mission: to listen, to pray, and to proclaim the freedom found in Jesus.

No spotlight.
No stage.
Just faithful presence.

And in quiet conversations, Bible studies, and unexpected encounters…lives are changed.

Thank you for helping bring the light, life, and love of Christ behind bars. The Gospel is transforming hearts — one encounter at a time.

Real Peace & Joy

Not long ago, he was terrified—young, alone, and overwhelmed by the walls around him. Today, after giving his life to Christ, he’s reading the Bible and praying openly in the dayroom.

Some people may assume it’s “just a phase.” But those who know the power of Jesus know this: Christ gives REAL freedom. REAL hope. REAL new life.

Please pray that this young man will continue to grow in faith—and that those around him will see the hope of Jesus and respond, too.
Because no one is beyond redemption.

A Place in the Family

Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many rooms…” (John 14)

A chaplain recently shared this promise with a frightened 18-year-old inmate who had never known stability or a home. As he listened, he learned something powerful: Christ doesn’t just offer forgiveness, He invites us into His family.

That young man broke down in tears and said, “I want to be part of Christ’s family.” They prayed together, and he surrendered his life to Jesus.

This is the Gospel behind bars. A home. A Father. Freedom behind bars.

“Better Than the Streets”

Behind bars, we met an 18-year-old who was overwhelmed with fear—heartbroken, homeless, and struggling to survive. He quietly admitted, “This is better than the streets.”

Over several visits, a Good News Global chaplain shared with him the peace and hope found in Jesus. And as he heard that Christ offers more than survival—He offers hope and a future—his heart began to soften.

Please pray for this young man, and for every inmate who feels forgotten and hopeless. Jesus meets people in their darkest places… and He will give hope. ✝️

A Life Made New

For nearly 20 years, Viktor Kucher felt trapped in a cycle of crime, addiction, and prison—convinced change was impossible.

But while serving his sentence, Viktor encountered the Gospel through faithful chaplains and former inmates who shared Scripture and their own stories of redemption. One Sunday, everything changed. Viktor surrendered his life to Christ.

“God touched me, and my ruined life became His,” Viktor shared.

Today, Viktor is free from addiction, actively serving in a local church, rebuilding relationships, and reconnecting with his son, Ilya. His life now proclaims the hope of Christ—proof that no one is beyond redemption.

Thank you for making stories like Viktor’s possible by helping bring the Gospel behind bars. 🙏
