“One Door”

back in the olden days
death would soon pass by
God said put lamb’s blood around the door’s post, the sides and up high

and when death came, it passed over
saving all the souls within
the door and blood were foreshadowing Jesus dying for our sin

the door and lamb were the savior
the cross? -the doorpost where He was pinned
Gods son bled and died to save us
because all of us had sinned

but there is more to the story
the old wooden door doesn’t tell
about Jesus and his power
over the grave, death, and hell

and it’s showed by the wreath
most folks hang upon their door
I see the rest of the story
that God had in store

seeing a bright Christmas door with a wreath like a crown
I see Jesus resurrected, the door that death could not tear down

one image shows his sacrifice
His life for ours freely giving
And one, the victorious champion that death could not keep from living

two parts of the story of
the exact same door
A difference of three days, an empty tomb, and a morning unlike any before

Jesus was crucified and resurrected and told us what to do-
seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you
