Lima Mennonite Church

Lima Mennonite Church All are welcome to join us for our Sunday morning worship services at 10:30. Click "About" for info on what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Everyone is welcome at Lima Mennonite Church. Our service starts at 10:30 every Sunday morning. Here's what to expect on a Sunday morning.

1. About 50 friendly people who love to talk and greet one another.
2. Everyone is dressed casually. (We haven't seen a neck tie for several years. We're beginning to think they're an urban legend.)
3. There will be lots of singing, mostly traditional and mode

rn hymns, and most of it in 4-part harmony accompanied by piano (no organ). There will be an occasional contemporary worship song.
4. The sermon will be about 20 minutes long.
5. There will be an offering for church members and regular attendees only (visitors are not expected to make any donation).
6. Toward the end of the service people will be given the opportunity to share prayer requests and announcements if they wish to.
7. From beginning to end the service will last about 80-90 minutes. FAQs
"How should I dress for your worship service?" Anything you'd wear to the grocery store is perfectly appropriate at our worship service. "Can I bring friends and family to your worship service?" By all means! We're an open and welcoming bunch of folks. "Do I have to be a Mennonite to visit or sit-in on your service?" Nope! You're welcome to visit with us no matter who you are or where you've come from! We'll make you feel right at home. "Do you drive a horse and buggy to church?" Nah. We all drive cars, pickups, and SUVs. Since they got too heavy for the horses to pull, we leave the horses at home. :)

We were happy to host a journal making class by last night! Maker Joyce Daniels taught us how to create ‘junk journals” and it was a blast. More classes available in June and July at

The science on mindfulness is fascinating! And also really motivational for learning more. Check out our event at Lima Public Library to try it out!

Science shows that if we invest our effort into reprogramming our brains, it can truly guide us towards a better life.

Excited to be leading some mindfulness workshops this January. Stay tuned for more offerings!

We love our kids! And this is fantastic approach to having a meaningful worship experience.

Rules for children in the worship service:

One. If you find that you're sitting in front of a child and they can't see, lean to the side.

Two. If the children seated behind you are rustling papers, hand them a crayon.

Three. If there is a baby that is crying, offer to take the baby from their parent and walk to the back of the church and rock the child for a while. The parent really needs a break.

Four. If the teenagers are whispering give them some Smarties. The rustling and crinkling will replace their whispering.

Five. If an adult complains to an usher about the noisy children near them, offer to trade seats with that adult and then apologize to the parents of the children.

Six. When a child is running around giving everyone high-fives during the time of passing the peace/greeting your neighbor make sure to give them an extra fun high-five, and then high-five the next five adults that you see.

Seven. If a child has worn tap shoes to church and is dancing on the wood portion of the floor, slip the sheet music for "The Entertainer" to the pianist and roll with it.

Eight. When the children can't hear because an adult around them won't take off their puffy jacket and it keeps squeaking and distracting the children, offer to help them off with their jacket and go hang it up for them where it goes.

Nine. When the three-year-old insists on standing on the front pew turned backwards looking at the rest of the people, give the child a pair of very dark glasses. That will prevent the child from catching any adult's eye, which would lead to distracting them. This will protect the adults who as we know have very short attention spans and are easily distracted.

Ten. When a child in front of you is very squirmy, and then they finally turn around and you realize suddenly, "Oh, it's Jesus!" take it in stride and play Got Your Nose till he turns around to the front again.

I (Pastor Emily) am working on my sermon for tomorrow, delving into Palestinian Liberation theology. So many parallels here.

If you've been taught that the church is untouchable, that scriptures should not be questioned, or that questioning teachings about God is unfaithful, you have been misled by people more invested in upholding ideas, institutions, or practices that serve them than God or collective liberation.
