Hello everyone!! I hope you all are having a great week so far! I just want to encourage you this week, because we can all use some encouragement.
This week I want to talk about a topic that tends to frighten many people. Most people do not wish to talk about this subject because of fear, or they simply do not believe it is true. I want to talk about not being afraid of the dark. No, I’m not talking about the absence of physical light. I am referring to the darkness that came at the fall when satan defected from God and brought down one third of the heavenly host with him. Some of you may already be thinking, “O great he is going to talk about Satan and demons”. Yes, I am. I urge to to stick with me and read this in its entirety.
For the most part, there are two camps of thought on demons. One camp says they are not real and give them no thought at all. The other believes Satan and his demons are the cause of all things bad. Let me say both camps are wrong. YES, Satan and demons are real, and NO, they are not the cause of everything bad in our lives. When you believe they are not real and not trying to actively destroy your testimony and lives, you are not giving them enough credit. When you believe they are everywhere and are the reason for all bad things in your life, you are giving them too much credit. Let me make this clear, Satan and his lackeys are not omnipresent, omnipotent, or omniscient. Satan is not on a equal playing field with God. In fact, the gap is SO BIG; it is not even measurable. Satan is a created being. John 1:1-3 New International Version (NIV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. This includes Angels. The Bibles tells us Satan was an angel who rebelled against God because of his pride in Ezekiel chapter 28. Due to Satan’s rebellion, he and one third of his followers (other angels) were cast out heaven. Revelation 12:4
Now that we understand Satan and demons are real and are created beings, lets get into the reason why we should not be afraid. God tells us not to be afraid. Isaiah 41:13 For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Based on this verse, It is vitally important we understand if God is not the LORD YOUR GOD, He will not hold you with His right hand. If you are not a born again believer, you should be afraid. For one, you are still under the wrath of a righteous and just God. Second, Satan and his hordes have power over you, and you have no power to defend yourself. Romans 10:9-10 (NIV) 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. This is a must if you are not a believer. The gift of salvation, and the Holy Spirit is FREE! It is not what you have done, but what Christ has done on the cross. By grace are you saved, and grace is a gift from God for forgiving us of things, we could never repay.
However, if you are a believer, the Holy Spirit of God dwells within you. 1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV) 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own. Romans 8:9 (NIV) 9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. When you were saved, you became like a bright star. Daniel 12:3 (NIV) 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. Why would a bright star ever be afraid of the dark. Unfortunately, it is our human nature to be afraid. This is only something God can help us deal with. The great news is God gives us power over the demonic through the Holy Spirit. 1 John 4:4 (NIV) 4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
You are only fooling yourself if you think Satan and his demons are not out to get you. 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) 8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. He will come for you, but you do not need to be afraid. Your strength comes from the Lord. The One who IS omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us. Be encouraged and do not be afraid to fight back. It is our time as brothers and sisters in Christ to rise up and break the bo***ge of the demonic oppression gripping this world. Let the light of Christ pierce the darkness.
