Good day everyone!

I pray everyone is doing well, despite what is happening right now during the Coronavirus epidemic. I want to take a moment and talk about something that is not easy to talk about. Even as I type, I am trying to think of how to say this. I am also thinking about how I can apply this to my own life.

I want to talk about you trusting God with what you have. Right now, people are losing their jobs, income, possessions and maybe even their homes. So, how much do you trust God with your belongings? Do you only trust Him when things are going well? Maybe you decided to tithe this month because you had a little extra income? Have you ever had this conversation with God, “God, I promise the moment I get that raise or that new job, I will start tithing or giving to others?” Perhaps after giving your tithe, you think to yourself, “Ok, God has to give me double what I gave because that is what it says in the Bible.” Should that promise God gave be the reason you tithe?

I will start by confessing. I am guilty of everything above. I have had those thoughts or conversations. I was hoping if I told God, “once You bless me just a little more, then I can be a happy giver.” I am telling you right now, if that is your reason, it is not going to happen. If you do happen to be blessed with more, you are not going to be a happy giver, because you are only going to want more. Chances are the reason you are praying for more is because of greed, and that greed will still be there even if you have more. Many times, the greed will increase. If you give for the sole reason of getting, or you think God “owes you” now. You are sadly mistaken. At that point, you are not giving to God, but only to yourself. God does not owe you anything, nor will He ever owe you anything.

Let’s start by figuring out what belongs to whom. “Leviticus 25:23 New International Version (NIV) 23 The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you reside in my land as foreigners and strangers.” Well, mark one for God. “Psalm 24:1 (NIV) 1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” Well, mark everything for God. So, now we know everything belongs to God. Let me make this very clear, God does not need your stuff or money. God wants your heart. “Matthew 6:21 (NIV) 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” If you are willingly giving your treasure, you are willingly giving your heart over to Jesus, and that is what He cares about. You are saying God you have entrusted me with everything I have, so I give it back because, I trust you with everything. Is having things bad, OF COURSE NOT! In the Bible God blesses with material things on several occasions. What matters is how you view those possessions. Do you have to go out and sell all your belongings, like Jesus instructed the rich young man described in Matthew 19? NO! (unless God calls you to do so, then of course) Jesus knew the rich man’s struggle. He knew his heart belonged to his possessions. That is why he told him to go sell everything and follow Him. He wanted the young man to understand how he loved what he owned more than he loved Jesus. The heart’s desire is what matters most.

Do not miss out on the true blessings of God, because you are not willing to turn over your belongings to Him. God wants to bless you with blessings that far surpass material things. There are many blessings promised throughout the Bible just waiting to be given to you. However, you have to put in the faith and the work. I encourage you to pray and ask God what He wants you to do. It could be something small, or it could be big. Only God knows. Please pray, ask, and trust God. God will always be faithful. Little bonus information, you can never out-give God. (2 Corinthians 9:7) God loves to give blessings. (Matthew 6:31-33)

Have a great week!

Hello everyone!

I know everyone is still probably trying to figure what to do being stuck in their houses right now. So, I wish to challenge you, as you are stuck at home. I want to challenge you to pray. I want you to pray like never before. Prayer is the most powerful thing you can do. Prayer is literally one on one time with the God of the universe, the Maker and Creator of all things. I want you to pray effectively. I want your prayers to honor God in all things. When you pray, pray so that your requests will bring glory to God and will cause His name be lifted up above all things. Pray this virus be lifted from the world and in turn the whole world knows who He is. Sample prayer:, “No matter what I am going through O Lord, I give you the glory and may your glory be known to the world.” We have to give God the glory in all things. It is not easy. Everyone is at a different place in life. For some, it may be easier to give God the glory but for others, not so much. Pray the will of God come down to the earth, for His will is perfect and just. If we are praying in accordance to the will of God, we can be assured that what we have asked; we have already received. 1 John 5:14-15 New International Version (NIV) 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. Pray this scripture back as you pray. Pray, “God your word says if I pray in accordance to your will you will hear me, and I know that if you hear me, whatever I ask, I know that I have received it. Help me God to learn what your will is and pray in accordance to your will that I may find favor with you. Let whatever I pray bring you honor and glory, let your name be lifted up above all names and let the nations know who you are. Amen.” Of course, this is just an example, but it is so important to pray back scripture.

Acts 4:23-31. (NIV) 23 On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. 25 You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David: “‘Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? 26 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed one. 27 Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. 28 They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. 29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. 30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” 31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. This is another example of praying scripture. They give glory to God, pray back scripture, ask to speak God’s word with boldness and even prayed for healing, signs and wonders in the name of Jesus, so that Jesus’s name may be lifted up and known to the world. Then the room was shaken, and God answered them by filling them with the Holy Spirit. This applies to us Christian’s, true followers of Christ, today. We can have these room shaking prayers today, because God is the same then, today and time to come. Hebrews 13:8 (NIV) 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

So again, I challenge you to take this time at home to learn how to pray effectively. Take the time to read God’s Word to learn what prayer is. Also, read his word to discover what His will is. His will is revealed to us through the Bible. Know His will, so you can effectively pray for His will. Victory of God comes through our prayers. Victory over this virus, comes through our prayers. Your prayers matter. I have another post on prayer if you scroll down the page just a little that may be helpful to you. Spend time with God. It’s the best thing you can ever do. PRAY! PRAY! PRAY

Hello everyone!! I hope you all are having a great week so far! I just want to encourage you this week, because we can all use some encouragement.

This week I want to talk about a topic that tends to frighten many people. Most people do not wish to talk about this subject because of fear, or they simply do not believe it is true. I want to talk about not being afraid of the dark. No, I’m not talking about the absence of physical light. I am referring to the darkness that came at the fall when satan defected from God and brought down one third of the heavenly host with him. Some of you may already be thinking, “O great he is going to talk about Satan and demons”. Yes, I am. I urge to to stick with me and read this in its entirety.

For the most part, there are two camps of thought on demons. One camp says they are not real and give them no thought at all. The other believes Satan and his demons are the cause of all things bad. Let me say both camps are wrong. YES, Satan and demons are real, and NO, they are not the cause of everything bad in our lives. When you believe they are not real and not trying to actively destroy your testimony and lives, you are not giving them enough credit. When you believe they are everywhere and are the reason for all bad things in your life, you are giving them too much credit. Let me make this clear, Satan and his lackeys are not omnipresent, omnipotent, or omniscient. Satan is not on a equal playing field with God. In fact, the gap is SO BIG; it is not even measurable. Satan is a created being. John 1:1-3 New International Version (NIV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. This includes Angels. The Bibles tells us Satan was an angel who rebelled against God because of his pride in Ezekiel chapter 28. Due to Satan’s rebellion, he and one third of his followers (other angels) were cast out heaven. Revelation 12:4

Now that we understand Satan and demons are real and are created beings, lets get into the reason why we should not be afraid. God tells us not to be afraid. Isaiah 41:13 For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Based on this verse, It is vitally important we understand if God is not the LORD YOUR GOD, He will not hold you with His right hand. If you are not a born again believer, you should be afraid. For one, you are still under the wrath of a righteous and just God. Second, Satan and his hordes have power over you, and you have no power to defend yourself. Romans 10:9-10 (NIV) 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. This is a must if you are not a believer. The gift of salvation, and the Holy Spirit is FREE! It is not what you have done, but what Christ has done on the cross. By grace are you saved, and grace is a gift from God for forgiving us of things, we could never repay.

However, if you are a believer, the Holy Spirit of God dwells within you. 1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV) 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own. Romans 8:9 (NIV) 9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. When you were saved, you became like a bright star. Daniel 12:3 (NIV) 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. Why would a bright star ever be afraid of the dark. Unfortunately, it is our human nature to be afraid. This is only something God can help us deal with. The great news is God gives us power over the demonic through the Holy Spirit. 1 John 4:4 (NIV) 4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

You are only fooling yourself if you think Satan and his demons are not out to get you. 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) 8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. He will come for you, but you do not need to be afraid. Your strength comes from the Lord. The One who IS omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us. Be encouraged and do not be afraid to fight back. It is our time as brothers and sisters in Christ to rise up and break the bo***ge of the demonic oppression gripping this world. Let the light of Christ pierce the darkness.

Happy Tuesday everyone!! For those of you who do not know, North Park Community Church hosts a prayer meeting at 6:30 p.m every Tuesday night. Since it is Tuesday, let’s talk about prayer.

Let’s start by asking, “ Why should we pray”? Isn’t prayer just getting on your knees and reciting the Lords prayer or the old “now I lay me down to sleep”? To me, that’s a bit ritualistic, and it is not very personal. Prayer is extremely personal. It is you pouring yourself out to God, and spending time with Him. Prayer is one of the most beautiful things you could ever do. Prayer is literally you talking with God!! The very Creator of the universe. The One who loved you first. Even if you have committed every sin in the book, HE LOVED YOU FIRST!!

Before moving on, I would like to make one thing clear, and I am not going to sugar coat it. If you do not believe in God, that Jesus is God, that He came down to earth to die for your sins and is now risen, your prayer life is already dead. At this point, the only prayer God is going to hear from you is, I’m sorry; I am a sinner, I messed up and I am asking for your forgivness. Jesus came down from heaven to become a man. He lived a perfect sinless life. Since his life was sinless, He was able to die to pay for all sin (not just some). He rose from the dead three days later and conquered death. I can say with 100% certainty if you cry out to God claiming this and mean it with all your heart, He will hear you, and He will forgive you. Want to know why I know with 100% certainty, well I’m glad you asked. BECAUSE GOD SAID SO!!! It does not get more certain than that. 1 John 1:9 New International Version (NIV) - 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Amen and Amen

Now to why to we should pray. It is kinda simple. God told us to. Ephesians 6:18 (NIV) - 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NIV) - 17 pray continually. This is just to name a couple of verses. See . . . pretty simple. Not only did God tell’s us to pray, but Jesus prayed all the time. If Jesus prayed all the time, you know we better be praying.

OK, now that we know we should pray, how do we pray? I will be honest here, this is a simple question, but yet a hard one too. So hard in fact, that we need God to help us pray and teach us how to pray. There are books upon books about prayer, and I encourage everyone to study the Bible on prayer on their own time as well. But in Matthew we see the disciples even needed help praying, so Jesus said this in Matthew 6:9-13 (NIV)

9 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’

Vs 9- He is first recognizing who God is. A Holy righteous God. He is the creator of all things. He owns everything. He is the I AM!

Vs 10- He wants the will of God to be done. If we truly love God and wish to serve Him, we want His will to be done. Not only that, if we pray in accordance to His will, we can have the confidence we will have what we prayed for.

1 John 5:14-15 (NIV) - 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

Vs 11 - We need to trust that God will provide for us. Philippians 4:19 (NIV) “19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Again this is why it is so important to be in the will of God.

Vs 12 Remember, Jesus is saying this for our sake’s not His. We are human. We mess up. We still need to ask for forgiveness, so our relationship with God and our prayers are not hindered. I said hindered not gone. You are still eternally secured, but your relationship with God is strained.

Vs 13 - As long as we are on this earth, we are going to be tempted. 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) “8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” Satan not only wants to make your life miserable and keep you separate from God, he wants to utterly destroy you. Sometimes it may feel like the temptation is more than you can bear. Take heart, for with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Matthew 19:26 (NIV) “26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I know this is a lot of information. Trust me, I could keep going. I want everyone to know just how important prayer is. Having a big prayer life is the second most important thing you can ever do. First is repenting of your sin.

Prayer is how we talk to the very Creator of the universe. Prayer is how we fight our battles. Prayer is one of the biggest ways we show God we love Him. I pray that we all start having a big prayer life.

Also, if any man is still interested in checking out the men’s ministry, we have another meeting this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. See you then!!

Hello everyone! It's been awhile since I posted about encouragement, so I figured today is a great day to help encourage you.

As human beings it is very hard not to be afraid. The very thought of uncertainty can cause you to be afraid. You have a bad doctor visit... you just lost your job.... lost your home..etc... That's some scary stuff.

But I can say with 100% certainty for those who have placed their faith and trust in God, need not fear..yes...I said NEED NOT FEAR.. why? O, I'm so glad you asked. Because the very Creator of all things.. ALL THINGS!!says not too.. that statement alone gives me goosebumps.
(Here is some bonus information... satan is not equal to God as he tries to make you think.. satan is a created being and you cannot even begin to compare God and satan because the difference is so large. satan can't even sneeze without God's permission.)

Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

I will say this, because I believe there are some people out there that need to hear this.. if you do not know Jesus as your personal Lord, Savior and God.. you should be fearful. Because in the very same verse it says "for the Lord YOUR God will be with you wherever you go.”

Roman's 10:9-10

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Come to God and fear no more. Will there be hardships....yes .. but now you have the very Creator of the universe living in you and on your side, to see you through and everything will work together for God's good.

Hey guys don't forget this Saturday at 10 am is our second meeting. First one was fantastic and I still encourage you to invite other men to join the group, it is never to late!!

Also, I encourage you to encourage someone this week.
Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

01/17/2020

Hey guys tomorrow is the day! 10 a.m at North Park Community Church 1321 E. Elm St. Really hope to see you guys there. Coffee and donuts will be provided in the morning.
With the impending weather, just letting you we will still be there!!

01/13/2020

Happy monday everyone! Again, I just want to throw out some words of wisdom for you guys. I just want to give you something to think about as you go through your week.
Something I myself have struggled with, is what is God's will for me. I pray all the time for God's will to be done and ask God,what is your will for my life. It is your will for me to be here doing this job, is it your will for me to be in this house, is it your will for me to marry this person, make this purchase, and so on and so forth. These thing are what I like to call the secret will of God. Things in the future we are wondering about and important decisions we have to make etc.. The secret will of God is the most exciting and the most enticing.
But there is another form of God's will that a lot of us overlook and I like to call it the revealed will of God. I cannot stress enough how important the revealed will of God is. And the best part is, there is no guessing on what it is. God tells us what He wants us to be doing. Just to name some, He calls us to avoid sexual immorality 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8. Making disciples Matthew 28:18-20. Loving and respecting your spouse's Ephesians 5:22-33. There are many more, but all you have to do to know it, is open God's word and read it. If you are not doing God's revealed will, why would He tell you his secret will. God so desperately wants to bless you, but He allows us free will and He is just waiting for us to turn to Him.
Proverbs 3:5-6 New International Version (NIV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Have a great week and see you men this Saturday!!
