Our preacher for Mother's Day service is Rev. Dr. Thomas Allen, a native of Bunnlevel and current resident of Southern Pines. His sermon is entitled "Mary -- Mother and Model of Discipleship" and is based on Luke 1:26-38. Service begins at 11:00 a.m. Here's the call to worship:
Leader: Today we celebrate our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and all the women who have loved and nurtured us.
People: Thank you, God, for giving us mothers.
Leader: We remember with deep gratitude all the ways they demonstrated their love for us
People: Sometimes we did not understand them, but we know that God understood.
Leader: We take time to remember our mothers because a mother's love reminds us so much of God's love.
All: For all their tears, their hugs, their wisdom, and for their unfailing trust in our abilities, we give thanks today.

Prayer of Confession:
O Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in
thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we
have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart and
mind and strength. We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
In your mercy, forgive what we have been, help us to amend what
we are, and direct what we shall be, so that we may delight in your
will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Through
Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
