Each of our 400 book bags is carefully packed with teacher-approved school supplies, so every child who receives one leaves with the essential tools they need to walk into the classroom prepared from day one.

We're excited to bring our community together for a day of amazing vehicles, local vendors, family fun, and giving back as we help students prepare for the new school year!

Children’s Ministry Lesson Summary: Be Strong and Courageous

Bible Verse: Joshua 1:9

Today we learned about Joshua 1:9, where God tells Joshua:

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

We talked about how Joshua had a big job leading God’s people into a new land, just like starting a new grade or a new school can feel like a big step. God reminded Joshua that he didn’t have to face it alone because God would always be with him. The same promise is true for us today.

We discussed things that can make us feel nervous at school, like making new friends, answering questions in class, trying something new, or standing up for what’s right. We learned that when we remember “God is with me,” we can choose courage instead of fear.

Together, we practiced our memory verse using fun motions:

💪 “Be strong” – flex your muscles.
😊 “And courageous” – make a brave smile.
✖️ “Do not be afraid” – cross your arms in an X.
☝🏾➡️ “For the Lord your God is with you” – point up, then around you.
🚶🏾 “Wherever you go” – walk in place.

We also acted out real-life school situations through role-play, practicing how to respond with courage, kindness, and faith. We learned that whether someone is lonely, we’re struggling with schoolwork, or we’re feeling nervous, we can remember that God is with us and choose to do what is loving and brave.

To finish, everyone created a School Courage Card to take home. Each card reminded us that God is with us at school, and each child drew a picture of themselves showing courage or kindness. These cards are a reminder that wherever we go—our classroom, the playground, the cafeteria, or the bus. God goes with us.

Big Idea:
Because God is always with me, I can be strong, courageous, kind, and brave wherever I go!
