Saul was a keeper of donkeys. Though tall and handsome, he was “little in [his] own sight” and self-conscious about his family heritage (see 1 Samuel 9:2–3, 21; 15:17). On the day he was to be presented before Israel as their king, he didn’t show up; he was so nervous he “hid himself” (1 Samuel 10:21–22). Looking at Saul, you might not have guessed that he would lead the Israelites to victory over their enemies—or that he would later become prideful and rebel against the Lord.

The Lord sent the prophet Samuel to find a new king among Jesse’s sons in Bethlehem. The Lord told Samuel not to judge them by how they looked. David was small, but his heart was full of faith.

Sister Yee describes how Jesus Christ ministered and testifies of the blessings of ministering in His way.

Romans 8:28 is one of the most comforting promises in all of scripture:

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Life doesn't always go as planned. We face challenges, disappointments, and trials that can be difficult to understand in the moment. Yet this verse reminds us that God is at work even when we cannot see the full picture. He can take our struggles, our setbacks, and even our mistakes and use them to shape us, strengthen us, and fulfill His purposes.

Trust that God is working behind the scenes. What may seem like a detour today could become part of His greater plan for your tomorrow.

Sometimes we imagine that our lives should follow a clear path from beginning to end. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line, after all. And yet life is often full of delays and detours that take us in unexpected directions.

Elder Gerrit W. Gong and his wife, Susan, share their thoughts about various scriptures and principles in this month's Come, Follow Me study guides.

Life is better—everything is better—when we are about His business.

Elder Kearon teaches that callings from the Lord are tailor-made for our growth and that when we respond to a call, we don’t merely fill an assignment but join the Saviour in His redeeming work.

Have you ever asked, “Why am I still here?” You’re not alone.
Sometimes the hardest moments lead us back to God.
This is a story of loss, questions… and faith that didn’t let go.
