INTRODUCTION.
John 1:14 says and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us( and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten to the father) full of Grace and truth.
Beloved it is clear the word became flesh. In other words it was the son from eternity who became incarnate he was God manifested in the flesh , that is the most profound truth of all truth.He was made of a Woman( Galatians 4:4) fully God and fully man.The whole fullness of deity lives in bodily form.
TS.God is not as a distant visitor.
BODY.
The Commentary says that Jesus refers to both his diety- God with us- and His identification and nearness to man.
POINT 1: HE IS Emmanuel
A. The 2nd verse. To. hark the Herald Angels sing says Christ, by highest heaven adored Christ, the everlasting lord,late in time behold him come, offsprings of the virgins womb; veiled in flesh the Godhead see; hail th' incarnate diety , please with us in flesh to dwell, Jesus our Emmanuel.
B.This is the most essential truth of all truth because it is the only truth that can save a sinner from eternal hell.
1.Matthew's Gospel Chapter 1 and Verses 22-23 Says. All this took place to fulfill what the lord had saud through the Prophet; The Virgin will conceive and give birth to a son , and they will call him Immanuel- which means God with us.
TS.HE IS NEAR WITH THE ACCESS OF LIFE AND LIGHT
POINT 2: THE ACCESS OF LIFE AND LIGHT.
A.John's Gospel chapter 1 and verse 4 says In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
1.ladies and Gentlemen God is life and God is light.
B.John 10:10 The theif comes but to kill , steal, and to destroy, But i come that you may have LIFE and life more abundantly.
1.Life in the Greek means Zoe the zoe kind of life the God kind of Life.
2.The song says he will Give you brand new life , life abundantly oh Come to Christ!
C.John 14:6 says I am the way, the truth, and the life, No Man Cometh to the Father But by me.
1. God Is Light
D.This then is the message which we have heard of him and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
TS.WALKING IN HIS DIVINE LIGHT UNDERSTANDING HIS ATTRIBUTES
POINT 3.UNDERSTANDING HIS ATTRIBUTES.
A.Isaiah 9:6 says for unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting father, The Prince of peace.
1.Grant C. Richison says that Isaiah Prophetically describes Jesus with beautiful strong attributes.
B.Wonderful- when he came he was a Wonder .He transcends human understanding .He is unique among human beings. He stAnds Supreme above everyone else. His name is wonderful because he is wonderful.
C.Counsellor- Jesus reveals the mind of God. He counsels us from God's perspective. He gives God's Council
D.Mighty God- He is God almighty. In him dwells all the fullness of the Deity in bodily form.
E.Everlasting Father- this is better translated. The father of eternity. All the ages meet in him. The son and the father are one
F.Prince of Peace- Peace will Characterize his reign upon Earth.
Jesus has not yet been seated on the throne. There is a day Coming when he will reign( Rev 3:21)
TS.HIS NAMES REVEAL HIS DIVINE NATURE
CONCLUSION.
Beloved as I close Remember we serve A God who was there, who is near, and He is with us.
John 1:1 says in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the Word was God.
Ladies and Gentlemen He was there in the beginning
And he is there in your situation
He said He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
When you decide to come close to God
He will get close.
