Hardin- Welcome our newly elected Bishop.

What a joyful moment for our church family!

We warmly congratulate our conference superintendent, Rev. Dr. Luther Oconer, on his election as Bishop of Episcopal Area One of the Global Methodist Church.

We have witnessed his faithful leadership firsthand which makes this milestone extra meaningful to us. His episcopal area brings together the annual conferences of Tanzania, Covenant Philippines, India, Mega Manila Philippines, Panama, Mississippi–Western Tennessee, and Trinity. It is a wide and wonderfully diverse field of ministry, and we are grateful that a leader we know and love has been called to help shepherd it.

Congratulations, Bishop-elect Oconer! We are grateful, proud, and excited for all that God will do through your ministry.

Let’s start our week with this verse!!
📖 *“And do not give the devil a foothold.”* — Ephesians 4:27

A foothold is a place to stand—a little bit of room to gain ground. Paul’s warning is that we shouldn’t give the devil that kind of room in our lives.

And often, it starts small.

A little anger we refuse to let go of. A little bitterness we keep feeding. A temptation we continue entertaining. A compromise we convince ourselves isn’t that serious.

That’s one of the lessons we see in the Book of Judges. Israel didn’t wake up one morning and decide they were done with God. **They drifted little by little. One compromise led to another, and before long they were farther from God than they ever intended to be.**

That’s why Ephesians 4:27 is such an important word for us as we begin a new week:

**Don’t give the devil a foothold.**

Don’t give him room in your thoughts.
Don’t give him room in your anger.
Don’t give him room in your relationships.
Don’t give him room through compromise.

Instead, give that space to God.

Stay close to Jesus. Fill your heart with His Word. Pray before the pressure comes. And depend on the Holy Spirit to help you recognize those little compromises before they lead you somewhere you never intended to go.

**Lord, guard our hearts this week. Show us anything we’ve allowed into our lives that could give the enemy a foothold. Help us close the door on compromise and walk closely with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.**

We want to wish Elena well as she gets ready to head off to college. Last week our youth celebrated her last MYF with a going away party.
