Good Morning, Church. I was reading this morning in the Bible during my quiet time with God.
I came across a verse that I had read and studied many times. Luke Chapter 10, where Jesus sent out 72 more disciples into the towns that He was planning to visit. Not alone but by 2's with instructions. Do not worry about what you will eat or wear, but prepare a way for Jesus to come. Jesus was coming to the cities of Capernaum, Chorizin and Bethsaida. In scripture, there are a few places where Luke spoke about the 72 being sent out before Jesus. Also in Matthew 11:21,23.
As Jesus said, He was sending Lambs out to a den of wolves. It was a tradition to greet people with Shalom, meaning in the Jewish language, wholeness and well-being. The 72 were to preach peace with the message of faith in God through Jesus. Romans 5:1
Jesus also gave them instructions about cities that did not accept them, to dust of the dust and to leave for in that day they were worse off than the day of S***m.
There is one verse in this section that gets overlooked by many people, and that is that they could heal the sick. Jesus gave them the ability to have the healing ministry. ( Luke 10:9 )
We read these short messages very fast sometimes, and miss the importance of the words that come from the bible every day.
What a great way to prove that Jesus was the Son of God in sending out the 70 to heal people in the name of Jesus.
Jesus did many things, healing those who had illnesses and devils in them. In chapter 5 of Luke, it tells of the demon in a person, and Jesus told him to leave, and it did. But the meaning was two-fold. Jesus was about to be revealed as the Holy One of God, and it was too soon.
Let us pray, Lord, we come to you today as sheep in the wolves' den as we teach others of your love and healing power. Let us have this time to preach of your goodwill and the will of God the Father to tell others of your love and goodness. Forgive us our sins and wash us white as snow. We ask all these things in Jesus' Holy name, Amen.
Last week, I went into scripture deep. If you did not understand that sermon, please reach out to me, and I will explain the verses and their meaning. I can be reached at [email protected]
Have a blessed week and keep spreading the word of God.
