Maple Street church of Christ

Maple Street church of Christ We are just disciples of Jesus searching out and spreading the truth of the good news about His resur We believe that this same church exists today.

Jesus told Peter that it was on the basis of his confession that Jesus was the Messiah (Anointed by God) and the “Son of the Living God” that He would build His church (Matthew 16:13-20). We believe that we can be part of that church the same way they were by being faithful to Jesus’ teaching and commands and receiving salvation the same way they did in the first century. Would you like to become

a part of the church that belongs to Christ today? Come and meet with our local assembly and we can study the bible together to find out how.

If you or I expect to stay saved I won't go on practicing sin. Those who say you can stay saved and continue practicing and condoning sin as a way of life are ignoring much of the scriptures.

Remember, satan said "surely you won't die" (Gen 3:4)...they died, and false prophets said "Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace." (Jer 6:14).

Sure it sounds good to think we can be saved without doing anything, "just believe"...and many have accumulated teachers in accurdance with their own desires, turning their ears away from the truth (2 Timothy 4:3-4)....but Jesus says "the one who endures to the end, he will be saved," (Mt 24:13) "Be Faithful unto death" (Rev 2:10), "persevere...hold fast" (Rev 3:10-11).

If we want to be saved and stay saved, we have to have active, OBEDIENT, faith, ... if we want to continue in sin and justify sin we are children of the devil with no real hope.

The Pharisees Criticized Jesus, asking "Why is He eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners," and this was His response. His words remind me of 4 meaningful points...

1) Jesus is eating with these sinners for a purpose, not to Justify their sins or to just hang out, but to heal them of their sins.

2)Some feel that their sin is too great to be forgiven...but no matter your previous sin, you can still be saved if you come to Him (Matthew 11:28)...Jesus Came to seek and save the Lost (Matthew 18:11).

3) Jesus expects those who "come to him" to repent (Matthew 4:17)...While He didn't condemn the woman caught in adultery He told her "sin no more"...That was not to be her way of life any more, she would not justify sinful ways.

4) Everyone needs the great Physician. The pharisees "trusted in their own righteousness" (Luke 18:9), but they had sin just like everyone else (Ecclesiastes 7:20). Some today don't read God's word or worship with the saints...why? They'll say "I'm good enough" or "they're hippocrites." We all need the great physician, but we can't relegate Him, His plan (prescription), and His people (Hebrews 10:23-25) and expect to be saved by Him.
