At 7 pm tonight, we serve the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts. In this service there are many prostrations made, something that is "foreign" or unfamiliar to many in the west. But it is a posture of humility and repentance. As has been said "It's how we SHOULD present ourselves before God." In the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, the Lamb has been consecrated at a previous liturgy. God is ALREADY PRESENT when the service begins. So the reverential posture of the faithful is surely appropriate.
