Genesis 1:3 "Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light." God Almighty spoke light into existence. Light is a special part of God's creation that required scientists to develop quantum electrodynamics (QED) to study light which is a combination of waves and particles. Light is an example of the intelligence of the God of the universe. Most of us don't even put much thought into what light is or what benefits light gives to us and the world around us. Next time you bump into something in the dark, take the time to thank God for the light he created.

Genesis 1:2 "The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters." The earth was a planet covered by water. There was no land. There was no life. This was merely step one for God as He began His wonderful creation.

Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (NKJV) Have you noticed that NKJV uses "heavens" instead of "heaven?" That is because the Hebrew word is plural. Are there more than one heaven? Yes. We have our atmosphere which is a heaven where the birds fly. We also have the heaven of outer space. I don't know if this also refers to the abode of God outside of the universe or not. God did not explicitly say, but I think not. I believe this is talking about all that we needed here on this earth. Keep meditating on God's word!

Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." God created the earth AND the universe where it sits. Amazingly, scientists continue to find more stars in our universe that God created. Why did He create all those stars? For us to study, for light in the night sky, for telling of the times, for navigation, for His glory to be revealed to those who are willing to look at His creation, and because He wanted to create it. God is Awesome!

In Genesis 1:1 the Hebrew word for "God" is in the plural while the Hebrew word for "created" is in the singular thus a singular translation of the word for "God" in english. I believe this points to the only triune God who is the Creator of everything, ex nihilo. The Father, the Son, and the Spirit were all involved in the creation. It is quite fascinating and enjoyable to study God's creation. You don't have to be a scientist to study and learn about God's creation.

Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork." King David wrote this to help us know that creation actually points to the God who created all things rather than pointing to creation itself. When is the last time you just spent a little while observing the stars? Next time you do, let the vastness of space point you to the Creator!

When you read the Bible, do you read as quick as you can to make sure that you check the block saying that you read your Bible? Have you tried slowing down and thinking about what it says? Start at Genesis 1:1. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (NKJV) When? In the beginning. Who? God. How? created. What? heavens and the earth. Where? There was no where until God created it. Why? Not explicitly stated: His love and His desire to create.

We looked at Colossians 3:12-17 yesterday evening during our time of worship at https://www.facebook.com/ForestHomeBaptistChurch/. Verse 17 states, "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." (NKJV). Whether it is our speech or our actions, we are to think through whether we are doing it in the name of the Lord. If we do something that is against what the Lord tells us to do and say that it is in the name of the Lord, then we actually take the Lord's name in vain. Slow down and think before you say or do something to determine if what you are about to say or do can be done in the name of the Lord. If yes, then say/do it. If no, then say/do something else.

Today Tamara and I have been rearranging my books to make them fit on the bookshelves that we have here at home. I have lots of books that I have never read. If Tamara decided to burn all of my books and leave me with one, I would choose my Bible. It is the best book of all books.

You need to know what you believe. You also need to know why you believe what you believe. 1 Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;" This basically says to be ready to give an answer to people when they ask what you believe and why you believe it. Go study and be ready.

There is no greater love than the love that the Almighty God of the universe showed as described in John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." WOW!! That is love. We break God's law and all we have to do is repent and believe for God to forgive us.
