From time to time I share other posts from other people, writers, and pastors, that I think you all would benefit from. For Today’s I am sharing a word from one of TFC’s own members, Rachel Valdez. Rachel wrote these thoughts down while in the midst of some tough “Life” moments, while listening to the song “Fear is not my future” by Brandon Lake. She read this last Sunday to our congregation, and I asked her permission to share it with you all here. -Pastor Aaron

Fear Is Not My Future
“Fear is not my future… Jesus, You are.”
Those words carry a powerful reminder:
what we face does not get the final say—Jesus does. Fear may knock at the door, sickness may try to write part of our story, heartbreak may leave scars, and loss may bring deep grief, but none of those things define who we are in Christ.
When the lyrics say, “Hello, peace. Hello, joy. Hello, love. Hello, strength. Hello, hope,” it sounds like opening the curtains after a long dark night. God invites us to lift our eyes from what has been weighing us down and look toward the new horizon He is creating. His presence brings what the world cannot give—real peace, lasting joy, unfailing love, and strength for every season.
Sometimes fear tries to convince us that tomorrow will always look like today. But Scripture reminds us in Isaiah 43:19, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” God is always working beyond what we can currently see. The future belongs to Him, not to our anxiety.
“Sickness is not my story.” That doesn’t mean life is painless or easy. It means our identity is bigger than our struggles. We are not abandoned in suffering. God walks with us through every valley, holding us steady even when healing takes time.
“Heartbreak is not my home.” Pain may visit, but it does not get permanent residence in the life of a believer. Jesus is our home. His love restores what grief and disappointment try to steal.
And finally, “Death is not the end.” Because of Jesus, even the darkest moments are not final. Resurrection is at the center of our faith. Hope lives because He lives.
Today, whatever fear, burden, or uncertainty you are carrying, remember this truth: it is not your future. Jesus is. And wherever He is, peace, joy, hope, and life follow.
