EVER ASKED GOD FOR A SECOND CHANCE AND ACTUALLY GOTTEN ONE? 🙋

This Sunday, Rev. Shawn continues our journey through the Book of Jonah with Chapter 3 and one of the most remarkable turnarounds in all of Scripture! A reluctant prophet. A city on the edge. And a God who never stops pursuing. Yes, a miracle is in store, but *spoiler alert* it's not Jonah's exit from the whale!

Join us this Sunday at 11AM for the next part of the story. We'd love to see you in person or online www.walnuthillchurchky.org/worshiplive/'

"If God said that to me . . . I'd have to say, 'Can You repeat that again?'"

Jonah is one of the Bible's most relatable, and stubborn, prophets. When God calls him to preach to Nineveh, Jonah can't imagine a worse audience. But God's mercy is bigger than Jonah's expectations.

What happens when we don't listen to God? It may not involve thunderbolts and lightning, but you still might end up in the belly of a fish thinking, "Whale, that escalated quickly!" (Sorry—we couldn't resist. 🐋😄)

That's exactly what happens to the minor prophet Jonah after he tries to run in the opposite direction of God's call to go to Nineveh. What follows is a drama on the high seas, a whale of a tale, and some important lessons about what happens when we run from God. And that's just Chapter 1!

🎧 Take a listen to our first Tuesday Huddle in the Book of Jonah and consider where God may be calling YOU to trust Him more deeply. 🙏

Someone’s a little salty...and it’s not from all the salt water! This Sunday, we’ll meet Jonah, arguably one of the Bible’s most cantankerous prophets. Most of us know the “big fish” part of the story—and yes, we’ll talk about that—but this sermon series focuses on what happens AFTER Jonah reaches Nineveh.

You’ve heard what happened with the fish… but have you heard what happened after?

Join us this Sunday at 11AM in person or online as we open the Book of Jonah at Walnut Hill Church: www.walnuthillchurchky.org/worshiplive/!

TOMORROW! Join us for May’s Sips & Saints tomorrow night as we discuss “Hearing God” by Dallas Willard, a thoughtful look at learning to recognize and respond to God’s voice in everyday life. We’ll start at 6:00 PM at the home of Esther Livingston (contact the church office or look at last week’s newsletter for address!) for good conversation, fellowship, and community. Bring a favorite drink or snack to share, and come hang out with us!

Violent wind. Divided tongues. Possible xenoglossy. Sound like someone broke into the “new wine” a little too early? Some witnesses at the time thought so, too. But no — this was the HOLY SPIRIT being poured out upon Christ’s disciples and the group of more than 100 believers gathered in Jerusalem, waiting just as Jesus had instructed them. This is the story of Pentecost.

Join us as we explore this remarkable moment in the life of the Church and what it still means for us today: how God meets people where they are, what faithful witness looks like across cultures and experiences, and whether we approach Scripture with the posture of cynics or believers.
