Light in the Darkness: a service for anyone experiencing loss, emptiness, stress, fear, hurt, or seeking healing. Join us December 10th at 5 p.m.

Recognizing that Advent and Christmastime can be a particular challenge to those suffering from grief, loss, anxiety or loneliness, this beautiful service of choral music, candlelight, and prayer is offered to make space for those seeking God's healing as we look forward to His coming to restore all things.

Join us this evening at 5pm. Our vespers is in the form of Holden Evening Prayer. From Wikipedia: "Vespers is a service of evening prayer, one of the canonical hours in Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Catholic (both Latin and Eastern), Lutheran, and Anglican liturgies. The word for this fixed prayer time comes from the Latin vesper, meaning "evening". Vespers typically follows a set order that focuses on the performance of psalms and other biblical canticles."
Holden Evening Prayer includes beautiful, uplifting and calming songs sung by choir and congregation. It was written in the mid-1980s by Marty Haugen while he was at Holden Village in the North Cascade Mountains of Washington. Its singability and meditative nature have kept it popular amongst Vespers liturgies.

Build relationships? ✅ Get those endorphines purring? ✅ Promote coordination and collaboration? ✅ Feel connected? ✅Activate the part of your brain that tries to understand and empathize? ✅ Lift spirits? ✅ Sing stories of justice, peace, protest, hope, childhood, and more? ✅ Feel shy about your voice but long to belt it out surrounded by other hearts and voices? ✅
We'll sing new songs for community and justice-songs we can take to vigils and gatherings for change; silly songs and pocket songs-laughing together is good; and old songs we remember together or teach each other anew. What songs would you want to share together?

Join us and others from the community and beyond, Sunday, May 22, 5pm.
