Dear Friends,

We pray that you are enjoying the beautiful days of this Fall season.
Ultreya will meet this Thursday, November 3 at 7:00 PM IN PERSON or ON ZOOM.

We will meet in person at 7:00 PM at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary in Rooms A/B. Mary Queen is located at the corner of Clays Mill and Hill-N-Dale Drive. It is easiest to enter Mary Queen by the Clays Mill side door.

Our witness speaker this month is Carlos Maldonado. Carlos was blessed to attend Men's Cursillo #57. He will share with us how the Holy Spirit has guided him on his spiritual journey and is working in his life. Please keep Carlos in your prayers and send palanca to his email address:

If you cannot make it in person, then please join us via zoom at 7:00 by clicking the link below. You will still be able to participate in small group reunion in breakout rooms after opening prayers and then listen to our witness speaker.

Also, as a community, please pray for the R.O.S. of Brian McIntyre, our sister Connie Weikel's son-in-law who went home to Jesus yesterday.

The Encounter is open to all Cursillistas and the theme is: Living a Life in Grace … The Presence of Christ in our Fourth Day! Cursillo announcement:

❖ Our diocese is holding a Cursillo Women’s Weekend on April 28 – May 1.

❖ Cursillo is a short course in Christianity for Catholic lay people.

❖ Cursillo provides tools for your prayer life, study to learn more about God and being a Christian in action in your daily life.

❖ This is an ideal opportunity to retreat from your daily life by spending time with God on a three-day Weekend.

❖ The Weekend begins on Thursday at 6:30 pm. and concludes on Sunday at 8 p.m.

❖ Father Danny Fister, Sister Georgette Andrade and Deacon John Brannen are the spiritual advisors, and the Lay Rectora is Debbie Wagner, Christ the King parishioner.

❖ Join Cursillo for spiritual renewal, developing friendships with other Catholic women, laughter, great food and growing closer to the Lord.

Make plans to join us for an “in-person” School of Leaders (SOL) on Saturday, September 25 at 9:00 a.m. – noon. The SOL’s will be held at St. Joseph in the school cafeteria located at 248 South Main Street, Wi******er, KY 40391. A mask mandate is in effect per the diocese requirements for all parishes. We hope you can join us on 9/25.

Region IV “Virtual” Fall Encounter:
“Save the Date” for the Region IV Fall “Virtual” Encounter on Saturday, October 9, 2021, beginning at 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM. Make plans to participate. Further details will be provided soon with zoom link details.

Dear Cursillo Community:

2020 was an unprecedent year and we along with all regions around the world cancelled our Cursillo weekends. For 2021, we are happy to announce our plans for a Men’s Weekend. Save the Date for Men’s #57 Weekend on July 29 – August 1, 2021. The Men’s Weekend will be held at St. Joseph parish in Wi******er. Pat Galvin is the Rector with Fr. Frank Brawner and Dcn. Larry Durbin as the Spiritual Advisors.

We ask our Cursillo community to invite candidates to attend Men’s #57 Weekend. We need to have 12 men attend so Make a Friend, Be a Friend and Bring a Friend to Christ for our Men’s #57 Weekend. Invite your friends to attend then complete the sponsor and candidate applications provided on our Cursillo website at https://www.cdlex.org/cursillo. Send applications to Grace Wiemann, Pre-Cursillo Chair, at 2216 Stone Garden Lane, Lexington, KY 40513. The cost to attend the weekend is $210 and a $50 deposit is required. Each person will be staying in a single room at a local hotel. Applications are being accepted until our deadline of Thursday, July 8 to finalize our weekend plans.

We will use all necessary guidelines in place by our diocese to remain safe for everyone’s health. We look forward to you attending the Men’s Closing at St. Joseph so save the date for Sunday, August 1 at 5:00 p.m.

Due to the closing of Cliffview, the Secretariat decided for all future weekends we will travel to various parishes within our diocese to host our weekends while allowing us to reach our broader community. Our plan for lodging is to stay at a hotel near each parish. We will use the parish for Chapel, meeting room and meals during the day with the team transporting candidates to/from the hotel to the parish daily. We appreciate your prayers and palanca for this weekend as we seek to keep Cursillo active in our diocese. Our Cursillo plans for 2022 is to have a women’s and men’s weekend and we will share information once we make those arrangements.

Please consider offering up the Prayer to the Holy Spirit and the Leaders Prayer each day for the team and candidates for strength, guidance, and grace for this weekend.

With gratitude to Almighty God, we share that our brother, Father Ray Stratman, on Saturday, November 21, has been called back to our Heavenly Father. Father Ray was a priest of the Diocese of Lexington who was generous in his service and support of many who have journeyed through the Cursillo Movement. For those who were blessed to have him as a spiritual advisor during the Cursillo weekends, we will have many memories of his joy and love that he shared so generously over many weekends and years involved in the Cursillo Movement. Let us entrust him to Almighty God with our prayers: Lord Jesus, our Redeemer, you willingly gave yourself up to death so that all people might be saved and pass from death into a new life. Look with love on your people who mourn and pray for their dead brother, Father Ray. Lord Jesus, you alone are holy and compassionate: forgive Father Ray his sins. By dying you opened the gates of life for those who believe in you; do not let our brother be departed from you, but by your glorious power give him light, joy and peace in heaven where you live for ever and ever. Amen
Funeral arrangements for Father Ray have not been finalized at this time. We ask that you keep Father Ray and his family in your prayers.

Cursillo 2021 Weekends

Weekends: Men’s #57 Cursillo Weekend will be held January 21 - 24, 2021 at Flaget Center in Louisville, KY. Women’s #59 Weekend will be held June 17-20, 2021. Save the Dates for these 2021 weekends. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we cancelled the 2020 weekends. The Diocese of Lexington Cursillo will hold our upcoming weekends at Flaget Center located at 1935 Lewiston Drive, Louisville, KY 40216. Be sure to invite and send your applications to Grace Wiemann at 3741 Horsemint Trail, Lexington, KY 40509 so your candidate(s) can attend. We are accepting applications until Friday, January 15th to attend the Men’s #57 Weekend. Applications can be found on our Cursillo website at https://cdlex.org/cursillo.
