“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”
Psalms 62:1-2 NIV
https://bible.com/bible/111/psa.62.1-2.NIV

“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.”
Genesis 2:2-3 NIV
https://bible.com/bible/111/gen.2.2-3.NIV

““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.””
Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
https://bible.com/bible/111/mat.11.28-30.NIV

“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Isaiah 40:30-31 NIV
https://bible.com/bible/111/isa.40.30-31.NIV

I probably need to stay off the Tik Tok, but it really does give some good insight because I’m on the right side of it most days. I saw one that started out with a man talking, and the first thing he said was “Jesus got tired too”. We talk all about the miracles He performed and how much power He radiated in life. We preach how great He is and how He never falters or looses sight of His purpose. Jesus is the best man that ever walked the earth. He is awesome, amazing, faithful, loving, kind, helpful, and everything good, but He still got tired on this earth, just like the rest of the humans.

I see how busy everyone is in today’s world, me included. We are always go go go and we have too many things that have to get done, and we tend to feel like we don’t deserve to rest. We feel like we have to earn it by getting everything accomplished after we manage to go to work for 8+ hours each day, then spend 2-4 hours a night on whatever extra curricular we have within the family, then come home to try to accomplish all the home projects first and by then it’s 10pm to midnight. Well, the truth is, all those “things” that we feel we need to accomplish, will still be there later, especially on Mondays after church day.

Now, that doesn’t mean Jesus didn’t get his requirements done. He worked. He accomplished. He prospered, and then He rested. He did what was needed and asked of Him by His Father, but then He rested. He rested by sleeping. He rested by bringing His concerns to His father. He rested by taking solace in knowing His Heavenly Father would always be there to pick Him up. ( Matt 28-30). Even God rested on the 7th day of creating the Earth! (Gen 2:2) So, don’t forget that it’s okay to rest sometimes, especially after completing everything God asks of you for the week.

Quote: “Rest is a weapon given to us by God through Jesus’s finished work at the cross. The enemy hates it because he wants you stressed and occupied.”

Corbetts Encouragement Today 04/26/2026:

“Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha).”

““I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.””

“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/111/heb.4.15-16.NIV

““As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/111/jhn.15.9.NIV

I saw a tik tok this week, that said “we’re really good at looking like we’re fine, but a lot of us are carrying more than we were meant to carry alone. Jesus carried a 125 lb wooden beam on His bloodied back and beaten body. He’s strong enough to carry what’s breaking you.” I’ve always known that Jesus carried the cross, but guess I’ve never really thought in depth about it. In my day to day life, my worries are very minor compared to carrying a 125lb cross in horrible conditions, much less being the sacrifice for the human population. We as humans tend to only see Jesus as God after the resurrection takes place, but we forget he was also a person. He was a perfect person, but still a person. He understands better than anyone what it’s like to be born into this crazy world. He understands what it’s like to grow up navigating life here on Earth. He knows what it’s like to have to go through the biggest hardship of your life (granted His was way worse than any of ours). He knows what it’s like to know you’re going to die. He knows what it’s like to be betrayed by friends/loved ones. He knows what it’s like to be loved and then hated in a moments notice. Jesus gets us. I see the ads everywhere and at the end it the tv commercial, it says “He gets us”. It’s so true.

No one in this world can love you like Jesus. There will never be anything that Jesus doesn’t know about you. There will never be anything you can hide from Him. He knows you as a whole, and still went to the cross for you! He knows your deepest sins. He knows your at times hateful hearts. He knows how mean you can be, and He chose you anyway. (John 15:9). The peace in knowing that, is so comforting. So yea, next time, I think I’ll take those worries to Jesus first, because carrying a weightless worry of “did my husband wash the dishes” or a heavy (to me) worry of “my parents are getting old and won’t be around forever” will just never be something He can’t handle. (Isaiah 41:13)

““My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.””
‭‭John‬ ‭17‬:‭20‬-‭26‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬, ‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18‬:‭24‬ ‭NIV‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/111/pro.18.24.NIV

Do you ever see good old friends at the most random times, and it just makes your day that much better? I’m not talking about going to Walmart and waving hi and bye at the acquaintance next door. I’m talking about those friendships, whom you spent years each day making each other better, praying for each other, working with each other and loving each other. And now you’ve seen each other after a long hiatus, just by going about your day to day life, and you will spend a good thirty to forty minutes just chit chatting the joys, concerns, crisis, and excitements in life. They help you map out next moves, and celebrate the milestones in the moment. Then, you just seem to feel better and more at peace after.

We as people don’t usually stop to think about it, but did you know you can have this amazing feeling all the time? Jesus is (or should be) our best friend. He never leaves, even when you go on a long hiatus from Him. He always wants what’s best for you. He never is rooting for you to loose. He listens to any and all rants you hear I’ll ever come up with, and the utmost important part, He loves you. We as people think we can’t bring every minor inconvenience to Jesus, which is just crazy talk in my opinion. If it bothers you enough that you’d tell your earthly best friend, why not tell your heavenly best friend (whom I hope can be your earthly bestie too!)

My mother always told me “you are who you hang out with” all through life, and even now as an adult. When I was a child, I really thought it was her way of explaining to me why I shouldn’t be around the “bad kids”. Now that I’m an adult, I know Best friends shape your life all the way throughout it. They will pick you up and tear you down. They will either correct you or continue to let you self destruct. They will pray for you and urge you to Jesus or they will help lead you astray. Friends are a big part of how you turn out the way you do. Choose friends who pray for you, love you, and protect you, just like Jesus did first! (John 17:20-25)

“Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭26‬-‭29‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭1‬:‭29‬-‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/111/luk.1.29-31.NIV

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.””
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭24‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/111/jos.24.15.NIV

We’ve all heard it through our lives: “God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called”. For years now, I’ve heard that and thought “yea okay” when it comes to my life, and I believed it in cases, for example like the David and Goliath story or when a man can preach but he’ll tell you he’s definitely not a preacher (but everyone sees that he is). But, Never once have I thought it occurred in my every day life, until a few weeks ago, when a dear friend brought it to my attention. Backstory: I was put in a position where I have 12-15 girls to teach. Immediately These were my thoughts on the matter: I am not qualified to be a counselor. I am not qualified to teach children. I am not qualified to change these girls. I am not qualified to make them better.
That’s where the “He qualifies the called” comes in.

I still don’t believe God has qualified me to be any of these things for these young people, but rather, He’s qualified these kids to help, teach and change me. As an adult, we take a child’s ministry for granted, but God uses them every day to get people through this life. The statement and verse of “train up a child in the way they should go and when they are old, they will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6), is something to cling to. Out of some of these “children”, a few pray like they’ve been praying for 80 years. A few know The Bible better than some preachers, and a few always seem to bring Jesus right to the table each time they open their mouths. They have been trained up well in their last 10-12 years. I have no doubt that when these children are 80, they will be some of the mightiest Jesus warriors in every way possible.

When thinking of our children, We forget one very important person in the salvation Story. Think of Mary’s mother. The Bible tells us that Mary found favor with God (Luke 1:30). Mary didn’t find favor with God just because she was always a great kid. She didn’t find favor because she was just a God fearing child. She didn’t find favor because she was a good prayer. Mary found favor with God because of the seeds her mother instilled in her as a young child, and then she chose to follow God. Mary is the ultimate example of training a child in the way they should go. So, as a parent, are you training your child in the ways they should go? Are you making sure that they’ll be called and qualified one day? Are you giving them the tools to know what is right or wrong? Are you teaching them who Jesus is? Because sometimes, it takes a child knowing Jesus to bring Him into someone else life.

“In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:”
Luke 24:5-6 NIV
https://bible.com/bible/111/luk.24.5-6.NIV

“Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.”
Romans 6:8-10 NIV
https://bible.com/bible/111/rom.6.8-10.NIV

“Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.” The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar and said, “If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.” There was a written notice above him, which read: this is the king of the jews. One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.””
Luke 23:32-43 NIV
https://bible.com/bible/111/luk.23.32-43.NIV

“But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.”
Revelation 19:20-21 NIV
https://bible.com/bible/111/rev.19.20-21.NIV

Happy Easter! He is Risen. Hallelujah Jesus is Alive! How much more encouragement can we get than knowing that information! Let’s back up for just a moment, to the Friday before. The moment exactly where Jesus is on the cross between two criminals. The Bible tells us one criminal rebuked Jesus by throwing insults claiming that He wasn’t the Son of God because if He was He could save them both. The other criminal simply said “Jesus remember me when You come into Your kingdom”. The 2nd criminal accepted Jesus in that moment as The Son of God, and went to be in Heaven with Jesus. No matter what you’ve done, where you’ve been, or who you’ve hurt, Jesus paid the ultimate price for you, just like He did for the criminal on the cross with Him. He came to this earth to save humans from themselves. Went through this life, died a traumatic horrible death whom no human could withstand, all while saying “God forgive them because they know not what they do”.

Jesus deserves our devotion. He deserves our submission. He deserves our acceptance, and yet some humans still don’t. I don’t know a whole lot, but I do know this. Jesus won that day, and soon He will win again, for the final time. (Revelation 19). Will you be there to celebrate that win with Him? Don’t be the first criminal on the cross. It’s not worth eternity separated from Jesus. Jesus is Alive. He is well. He has nail scared hands and He is waiting for you and me!

The Webster’s Dictionary definition of Awesome is something that causes feelings of admiration, respect, or fear. We serve an Awesome God! He’s not just awesome because people think that and The Bible says that, although those are great references for believing it. He’s Awesome, because He spends the day with us. He’s Awesome because He takes care of us, before we even knew we needed Him. He’s awesome because He loves us. Hes Awesome because he loves us so much that He saved us! (Psalms 95:3, John 3:16, Nehemiah 1:5)

Speaking of that! Have you ever counted how many times you say “thank you” in one week? I feel like I’m always saying it. To The lady who complements my shirt. The gentleman who holds the door open for me. The child whom hands you a pen. I started counting how many times I personally use that phrase and realized our society uses it a ton! It’s like we are conditioned to be grateful for any and all tasks someone performs for us (and that’s not a bad thing!). But, How many times this week have you said “Thank you Jesus”? Hopefully more than once, but we’re real life humans, so did we even think about it?

Easter is next week (ya know in case ya didn’t know and you live under a rock). That means Friday we will be sad, as humans killed our Savior. Saturday is the day of mourning, and Sunday, we know, and celebrate that Jesus is alive! Jesus performed the ultimate task for us. He saved us. He deserves all the admiration, praise and thanks we can give. ( Psalm 107. 1) And putting it simply, We just don’t praise and thank Jesus enough. I challenge you this week, to spend it thanking and praising Him for what he did so many Easter Sundays ago!

Mark 2:1-12
Luke 5:17-26

This week, I was out getting my toes done, and I saw a lady who I went to school with my whole life. I’ve always loved this person, so I was listening in while she was just talking to the woman who was servicing her, and they were discussing friendships and how they affect you in life. One of the things she told her was “it matters who you surround yourself with”.
Well, honestly, I’ve been hearing this my whole life! My mother and sister, and preachers, and youth ministers, and teachers etc have been telling me that my whole life! It got me thinking. I’ve always thought all these people just wanted me to have good friends, so I didn’t get into trouble or have a bad reputation. What if they wanted me to have friends who prayed for me, who helped me grow in Christ, who had more faith in Jesus than I so they’d sharpen my iron?

In the Bible story of the paralytic man in Mark 2:1-12 and Luke 5:17-26, he got to Jesus based on his friend’s faith. When we think of the story, we think he was just healed because his friends took him to Jesus, but did you know, that his friends carried him to Jesus to be forgiven before he could walk? They didn’t just pick him up and throw him over their shoulder either… they tried to get through the crowd, with no luck their idea was let’s go through the roof! They climbed the building, with a paralyzed man on a cot type bed, then probably cut a whole in the roof and ceiling of the building, then lowered him through the roof right to Jesus’s feet. Think about that for just a moment, that had to be tiring.. and they didn’t have power tools to cut through the building!! This man, had four friends who loved him so much, that they knew he needed Jesus, and, they were not taking no for an answer! Do you have even one friend who would go through all that, so that you’d meet Jesus? I pray you do. I pray you have more than four friends who will drop everything to make sure you get to meet Jesus. I pray you are that friend who drops everything without question, so your friends can know Jesus! I pray you know Jesus.

So, yea my friend from school was right, wither she meant it as a reputation thing or a Jesus thing. It matters who you surround yourself with, especially when their faith in Jesus can keep you going when it gets hard.

Our lives today are different from what they were 20-30 or so years ago. Around 20- 30 years ago, church was the “thing” to be at. Now church is viewed as the place to avoid by a lot of the young crowd. (Not every young person, but the majority). I know I personally hear it all the time. “Why would I worship a God, who allows bad things to happen?” “Why would I give to a church not being like Jesus”, “why do I need to attend a church when I can pray at home?”
Well for one, God says go fellowship with like minded believers because they will support you and keep you uplifted. (Hebrews 10:24-25) I know I personally have way better weeks when I go to church on Sundays and Wednesdays vs when I don’t. Maybe it’s a coincidence, (as that’s what some have said to me) but I really believe that Gods placing that hand on me through my church family. Jesus, through this small group at Corbett keeps me nourished, prayed for, and supports me by correcting me when I’m wrong. These people teach me, without even trying to. When I miss due to work, or sickness, or even laziness, I feel the effects.

I’m not sure where I have heard it, as I’ve heard it from many many people growing up, but the only thing you can take with you to Heaven is your children. Now, that saying isn’t necessarily true. You can take your mom, dad, aunts, uncles, children, siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandkids, etc. However, as a parent, the most important thing (usually) to take with you to Heaven is your children. It doesn’t start when your kids are 21 and can make their own decisions now. I pray they choose Jesus every time, but it’s a-lot harder to choose Jesus at 21 when it seems like all your friends are against Him, than it is at 4 when everyone in your life is for Him. When they grow up, and life gets hard, what do they fall to? Do they have the hope that only Jesus can give, or do they fall to the world of Satan? (Proverbs 22:6). Going to church isn’t just somewhere to go. We should go, because we’re told to go, but also because it helps with this hard world we live life in. It gives us the strength to keep our hope when lives fall apart, and it helps you get those precious children to Heaven with you.

Read: Daniel 3: 1-30

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
Isaiah 43:2 NIV

Who remembers King Nebuchadnezzar? That name not familiar? How about these; Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego? There it is! Most people at least recognize those names! So, let’s quickly go through their story. The King, Nebuchadnezzar, wanted everyone to worship an image of gold that he set up when they heard the sound of an instrument. (Verses 1-6) All the nations people did just that. (verse 7) Shortly after, the king, issues a decree that anyone who did not worship the gold, needs to be thrown in the furnace. (Verse 9-14) this is where the three men come in. They refused to worship the gold because they worshiped God. They get called to see the king. The king asks them if this is true, of course they say yes we don’t worship your god, and the king threatens to throw them in the fire and Shadrach, Meshach and Avednego said “do your worst”.
Not really, but they did say “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” (Verses 16-19).
The king then ordered it seven times hotter and then has his strongest soldiers bound the three guys. Then the soldiers took them up to drop them in the furnace and died on the way because it was so hot! When the kind looked into the fire, he saw four men instead of 3. The king, comes shouting to the guys to come out of the fire, telling them they serve the most high God.

There’s the cliff notes version for anyone who needed it. But let’s get into it. Can you imagine the faith of these men? I mean I personally would like to not ever have to step foot into a burning fire. I pray that is never my story, but would I have the faith to step into it? I pray so.

This story is proof that God isn’t gonna keep you out of the fire but that he will stand right there in it with you! Our fires are usually not a big as Shadrach, Meshach and Avednego’s, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t big to us. Sometimes our fires are divorce, financial struggles, watching your parents die, cancer, depression, or your child’s salvation.
Fires will come and go, you just gotta remember to stand firm, stay strong, keep your faith and talk to the One standing right there with you through the fire. (Isaiah 43:2)
